If Big-12 offer $32m, will OSU accept and bolt to Big-12? Famous last words... I don't think so. I think Barnes and Murthy really do mean it when they say they value a regional conference above (or mostly above) all else. I also think OSU would insist WSU be included. BUT, if WSU was included, and if the Big-"12" agreed to a Western Division containing all of the ex-Pac-12 schools, then it would be a hard decision. Still, I don't think so. I mean, what's $32M if you spend a 1/3rd of it sending all your teams across the country every year?

Big 12 travel wouldn't be as bad as Calford in the ACC, but still way worse than the PacState we have now or what the Pac-12 once was. Seeing an actual map really puts it into perspective: Big 12 Conference Members MapImagine OSU and WSU in there, doesn't make much sense. The ACC Conference map is just ludicrous: ACC Conference Members MapNew PacState Members MapReally only CSU sticks out... Not sure why little rock and Cal poly are on there. Wiki for the win And just for nostalgia and schadenfreude... The OLD Pac-12 map: What a west coast conference SHOULD look like

Seriously the more I look at the ACC map, the more I think that if Calford comes groveling back WE should be the ones to look down our snobbish nose at their low intelligence. How DUMB is that map!!!

I'm stoked OSU didn't jump to the Big 12 for a half share and will forge a new path with other 5 schools to create a best of G5/6 or perhaps retain its P5 status.
Maybe just me, but playing Boise State and WSU and SDSU regularly is more interesting to me than random teams we have no history with like Texas Tech and Kansas and West Virginia. Even forging a new path with AAC teams is more interesting.
Maybe I'm just salty about the state of College Football and how OSU got royally s%#t on, but as a lifelong Pac 8/10/12 guy, loyalty and a desire to forge a new path with OSU/WSU wins the day.
Go Broncos, Go Aztecs, Go Rams, Hopefully go Rebels.

And, IMHO no amount of media payout (as we've seen there will be unequal division of revenue) was every going to get OSU on equal footing in this new era of college football. I believe it was a blessing in disguise to find a new path that's more in line with how college football was. OSU will be fine, and may end up taking a leadership position in this new path?!

They said they're hearing rumors the CW is interested in expanding their coverage (I read that somewhere in the last couple days) and that Amazon Prime might be involved for streaming. I would be stunned if the B-12 was going to offer SDSU over OSU and WSU. that makes zero sense whatsoever. I just don't believe it, there is a big asterisk here we are missing. If there is an element of truth, I think there is an expectation media can exceed $18million. and I know CW is eager to expand sports and OSU/WSU have the foothold. and we are open to streaming. depending on who we lure, maybe, just maybe we are back to even with old Pac dollars? Who knows. Regardless. I am pretty skeptical at this claim. Only way I see it is B12 was doing some weird basketball plays. there was all that UCONN convo too. could of been a BBall only invite? At a half-share through the length of the current media contract with no guarantee of full membership at the renewal. This was offered early, when getting the 4 corners was a pipe dream, The thinking was that it would be a lure for the Zona schools who recruit SD heavily.

I remember those rumors came out not that long ago. I thought it was the usual smoke being blown around. The rumor was OSU and SDSU to the B12. I wonder if Barnes and Murthy said, "Not without Wazzou." That is, the difference between a half-share in the B12 and a full share in the Pac wasn't worth abandoning our scruples. I'd really like to know if that's how it went down. The offer was made before the 4 corners left the PAC, long before. At that time we were working with the PAC which offered less money up front but better money long term. Plus, travel was better and the academics were better. When the B12 signed the 4 corners Wicker said that Yomark told him that he was "done for now."

Could OSU and WSU having 5 digit metro populations vs San Diego's 3.3 million metro population have anything to do with it? TV dollars could be involved. Six digits, thank you very much. We have 230,000 person metro area, literally. that is our CSA in the 2023 census estimates. but functionally our viewership is PDX. TV always matters, but the SDSU general TV viewership numbers are much lower than ours. doesn't matter if you are in a big market if nobody watches you. See every argument we have ever had about SJSU. Our FB gets stuck playing on the CBSSN a lot.

Just responding to speculation in this thread. You are probably right, wasn't even a real scenario. Go UNLV
