Nevarez thinks history matters? She hasn't been paying attention. The end of the Rose Bowl. The end of the Apple Cup. The end of the (real) Civil War.
History means nothing in these days of greed.

She overplayed her hand.
Here's the difference between what the Big10/Big12 did to us and what we're doing to the MWC. We tried to work with the MWC and Nevarez decided to play hardball. She's the one that made it a zero-sum game. I feel for the Utah States and Nevadas left behind, and I really wish it hadn't come down like this, but the larger chunk of the blame goes to the commissioner they hired.

I thought the whole point of waiting until 2026 was to get OUT of the 17 million dollar exit fees?

Yep.....The only "History" that means anything is history that brings in massive viewership.....ie, Michigan/Ohio State, USC/Notre Dame. MWC conference history only means anything the MW people, and there just aren't enough of them to matter

I thought the whole point of waiting until 2026 was to get OUT of the 17 million dollar exit fees? Going for 2025 would cost them 34 million in exit fees. There was a double penalty for not giving a year's notice, that deadline has apparently passed.

This was an interesting development given that Barnes just recently said that the fate of OSU and WSU would probably not be known until spring. I'm looking forward to the next development.

I think she did what she had to do, and I can't fault her for it. If she hadn't played hardball, what would have changed? I suspect that we knew we didn't want the whole MW conference--not to join and not to add to the Pac. We only wanted the best.
She knew this. She knew that if we didn't find a conference then there would be a good chance at picking apart her conference, taking the best teams and leaving her conference with the weaker ones. She did what she could, but the game is changing.

And she got some money for her conference to backfill. Just like the WSU and OSU did to the traitors.
