Not surprised about the ducks. After all, they are a BASKETBALL school!

Funny that we garner such low expectations with virtually everyone back but GP2. That kid was definitely our leader, but I felt like Tres was our best pure player down the stretch. Duvivier is out, but Malcolm brought very little offensively. Maybe we struggle a little to establish a team defensive presence - GP2 and Malcolm were tough on that end - but with the addition of McLoughlin who is a huge talent, and 2 nice players are can rebound and a mature JC guard, I would expect us to be better this year. For all of the great stuff GP2 did for us, and the great entertainment he provided on defense and earth-shaking jams, he was limited in the half court offense and a reluctant shooter. Without Tres in the postseason, he tried to step up how offensive game but was a beaver out of water trying to be an aggressive scorer. An underrated setback was the loss of Bruce. That kid was really coming on, and gave us great quickness and explosion against pressure. Outside of the duckies, I doubt any other teams in the league has more experience returning. I expect that we going to be good - hopefully Big Dance worthy - and if we get team D solidified we good be REALLY good. I think we'll be much more diverse on offense this year.

No GPII, no Duvivier, no point-guard-in-waiting Bruce, best returning player - Tinkle - looking a little bit brittle...7-9 would have been reasonable.

Not saying we won't end up in that range, but if Eubanks and Stevie are the studs people say and it stands to reason that with all the experience they will be better, it just surprises me. We'll see...this stuff means nothing anyway, but we lost very little offensive firepower from the team we were before Tres got hurt and Bruce blew up in the post-season. Considering that GP2 scored 90% of his points on put backs or breakaways after steals, that's not much. With Kone and Drew bigger and more experienced, I don't think we'll have to rely on a 6'3" guard to get all of our rebounds!

Losing Bruce was huuuuuuuuuge to me. 7-9 is reasonable. Never know though. Could be higher? Future looks bright, though. Go Beavs!

I'm not too surprised, when you look at "lost 9 players from last season's roster" on paper - that's pretty daunting (even if I believe we've more than adequately replaced a number of those guys and replaced some one dimensional guys with some players with more tools). Then there's the Big C. Chemistry both on and off the court. And we've got the Big H as in Health w/Tinkle and Kone. If we aren't healthy, things could go south in a hurry.
That's a lot of new parts and pieces for WT to mesh together over the next month or so. I have no problem starting 9th and proving them wrong.

I know the 3 guards are gone, and Gomis (who really didn't even play last year) moved on. I guess that Reid and Langston-Walker and Schaaftnar are gone too. Strictly from an experience perspective, we lost more guys than I remembered. The other 2 must have been afterthoughts?? I just see a bunch of guys leaving who we're single-dimensional and incredibly inconsistent. Outside of Bruce and GP2 , it was often like the others weren't even there!

No biggie. Until the Beavs show they can win year over year, they will have to prove their worth to pundits.
Once they do, the opposite will be true. It's just the way things are.

Gone from last years roster: GPII Bruce Duvivier LMW Reid Olaf Gomis Dahlen Stengel Correct, the last 2 guys - not a big loss, but still, 9 guys is 9 guys... Agree 100%, outside of GPII, the rest of the guys on the list were pretty inconsistent or did one thing well (sometimes). IMO - Between GPII and MD, we do lose a lot in terms of perimeter defense and if the new guys can't keep teams from running wild into the paint, that likely means our bigs will be challenged to stay on the floor and out of foul trouble. Silver lining: Olaf not being there = 5 guys playing defense this season versus 4.

Scrimmage over the weekend. Not sure if Tinkle played and I know Kone was out. Grand Canyon is a decent mid major but just shows there is a long ways to go We just lost to Grand Canyon, there is work to be done. 9th is about right for now When did OSU just lose to Grand Canyon?
