Neither one of those guys was on scholarship for football, so their was no extra scholarship for baseball. They weren't on scholarship for baseball either? Not full rides. The 11.7 scholarship limit was divided up amongst the whole team.

If a baseball player on partial scholarship plays football, he must be given a full football scholarship in Division 1-A. Then, his scholarship would not count against the 11.7.

I don't know if either one was on scholarship for either sport. I knew Jamie in college and I know he wasn't on a football scholarship. Never asked him about baseball.

That's the way I remember it from my college days. OSU is so much better looking now than it was then. There's no comparison.

Hard to believe that's the same stadium we see today I noticed the bike leaning against the fence just past the visitor dugout. There was an older gentleman, Mean Gene, who rode his bike to most games in the early 80's. His catchphrase was "That was a peach." He was my idol then and now.

The white building behind the corner of the bleachers, there used to be a group on old men( at least at the time I thought they were old men) that smoked cigars and talked baseball standing there. Great memories of those days

Great memories of those days Dee, Paul Valenti, Hal Cowan, Paul Marriott, among others. Sadly all but Hal are deceased. Somewhere out there is a photo of #9 and Marty Mauer sitting with them, smoking stogies. Paul was the gatekeeper and I think he let anyone in who wanted to enter and never asked for a ticket.

Ah yes, the season that featured the home opener weekend with Western Oregon, Linfield, and a Sunday double header against Eastern Oregon and Willamette.

Alan Snelling and David Schmidt, an outstanding catcher from that era, were at the Dugout Club Golf Tournament this morning. David played in the Cardinals' organization after OSU and reached AA for sure, perhaps AAA briefly. According to the baseball cube, the highest level Dave played at was AA. Doesn't mean he wasn't on a AAA roster at some point. 8th round draft pick in 1996

Ah yes, the season that featured the home opener weekend with Western Oregon, Linfield, and a Sunday double header against Eastern Oregon and Willamette. This is not necessarily for you, Messi. (Also, have you tried Messi chips yet from Lay's? I just bought a bag, but I have not tried them yet.) The 2024 media guide is wrong. Oregon State started the 1993 season in Sacramento. I notice that Oregon State's season-opening loss to Cal in Sacramento disappeared from the 2024 Media Guide. But the loss still appears on the total loss total in 1993. (If you add up the losses, there are only 17 in the 2024 media guide. You need the Cal loss to be included to get to 31-18. Oregon Stated started 2-2 in Sacramento, losing to Cal; splitting with the hosts, Sac State; and beating UC Santa Barbara. Oregon State then played Western Oregon, Linfield, Eastern Oregon, and Willamette at Coleman Field, sweeping the four. Oregon State played George Fox the next weekend and won. The end of the season is also messed up. Oregon State finished the season by beating Wazzu three times: 7-0, 3-2 (in 10 innings), and 10-8. The 2024 media guide lists the first win as 9-0 and does not include the third win at all. This one is more weird, because the win is included in the Pac-10 North numbers but is not included in the overall numbers. Oregon State went 20-10 in the Pac-10 North in 1993 and 32-18 overall, not 31-18. If anyone knows anyone at the media guide, someone can hopefully get that fixed in time for the 2025 media guide.
