hmmm, do the gods of college football want the big10 schools to win? sure seems that way. By gods, I mean espn or whoever controls the money. How was that not targeting? The defender launched himself at the runner, and blasted his helmet off with his forearm......is that not clearly head/neck? What am I missing? Apparently you can forearm shiver to the runners head with reckless abandon when they are giving themselves up. If that is true, the rules need to be changed big time. Brings back memories of watching clips of Dick “Night Train” Lane clothes lining everybody

Ugly win, but they don’t keep track of how they keep track of how many

His forearm hit the guy in the lower shoulder, obvious in the replay. Nowhere near the head or neck. The helmet came off when the QB hit the ground, as it did many other times during the game. Clearly not targeting. Had the QB kept running instead of sliding, he would have easily made the first down.

Nothing I saw tonight has changed my opinion that we upgraded our head-coaching position. Bray doesn't have Smith's experience, but with time IMHO he'll be a better head coach, with more player buy-in. Other's mileage may vary, of course.
Saw more of the same brain-dead decisions he made at OSU. Not taking the chip-shot FG to go up by two scores in the 4th quarter. Horribly mismanaged final possession, passing twice and enabling FAU to preserve two TOs. Personal fouls, more than 100 yards in penalties. Totally unimpressed.

Regardless, the defender intended to take his head off

Chiles. Kinda sad really. Smith is going to learn that it's harder to be a losing coach when you aren't a legendary alum. Chiles is going to transfer or get hurt because they were not protecting him against a pretty pedantic defense. He only got sacked once but he was not comfortable and the play calls are going to get him murdered against Michigan, Ohio State, Iowa and Oregon

There's a reason good football teams take the 3 points and bring out the defense. They know 3 points can matter a lot. And they're not afraid to put their defense back on the field.
Taking these absurd risks always seemed to me to fly in the face of what CJS was trying to do. But I don't care anymore, except to smile now when they fail.

Another reason I like Bray, hopefully a head coach with a defensive background won't constantly put his defense in jeopardy by constantly gambling, and often failing, on offense or with stupid fake punts on our side of the 50.

Pretty bold comparison for a guy who has yet to coach one football game. Hope you’re right. I’ll wait a season or so.

Ugly win, but they don’t keep track of how they keep track of how many Absolutely.....BUT, MSU looked pretty bad on offense. Chiles in particular, does not look ready for prime time. The defense was good, but hard to gauge how good vs FAU. I think rgeorge penciled em in for 6-6 based on their schedule. They go 6-6 for a couple seasons, and milk maid is out of a job.
