Is this an indication of facing better pitching, or coaching trying to change something in their approach or swing. Or little of both.

You expect a dip in performance and changing environments, but this looks like something else. Is the pitching they're seeing night and day different than many Friday night starters, I wouldn't think so? Gotta think the owners are a bit concerned about their investment 😟 I have no doubt TB will get it fixed, but he's really struggling now it appears.

His OBP is still .372….they’re not going to be concerned.

It’s also a major mental adjustment having it now be your job, not something you do because you love it. You can still love it, but it’s different

Those stats are fairly typical for players moving from college to pro ball. Bazz for example is adjusting to new living quarters, a new locale, and new teammates. He is also seeing better velop, better secondary suff and better command - he is facing a "Friday night Ace" every night and sometimes 4 of them in a 5 day span. More games, more travel and better competition.
What's interesting is three of the concensus top-5 college hitters did not start at the Complex or Low A level but rather at Advanced A instead. I wanted to include Nick Kurtz who started with the Low-A Stockton Ports (teammate of Ryan Brown and Jake Pfennigs) and has now been promoted to AA Midland, Texas in the Oakland organization. JJ Wetherholt also began his career at Low A. Bazzana, Condon and Caglianone were thrown into the High A fire immediately.
I wouls guess there is no concern with any of them. Condon is the only one that has struggled a bit. Bazzana is learning and adjusting, getting on base, has run the bases like Ricky Henderson and been dazzling in the field. The Guardians paid $9 mil for a francise cornerstone. They should be in court facing Grand Larceny charges. LOL

I realize these guys HAVE all used wood bats before, but there's definitely some statistical difference that is attributable to using wood bats vs BBCOR.

I also have to wonder if there's something about the liveliness of the balls used recently in the college game.
We all saw the power go up and overall pitching effectiveness go down the last couple years.
Is this big dropoff more evidence of that? Makes me wonder...
