So MHver3 has been busy on X again.
He's been saying that the Pac-12 is in the mix as football only adds along with UConn and Gonzaga as basketball adds. He said the all four option got 10 yes votes in a straw poll of Big 12 schools.

If Oregon State can only get a half-share in the Big 12, the ACC might make more financial sense in the short-term. I still think that the Big 12 is the way to go, if the numbers are close, though.
Keep up the chatter, though.
Hopefully, this is smoke, and there is a fire somewhere.
If this is accurate, I wonder who the six no's are?

Half of a big12 share is a heck of a lot better than a full share at the mwc.

IDK who the six are but if he is right and these straw polls are taking place, my guess is the no votes are due to wanting to wait to see what happens to the ACC. I'm not a huge fan of the football only thing but I get why the Big 12 would want it that way. Baseball, and I think gymnastics and wrestling, are going independent anyway and might find their way into the Big 12 as auxiliary members at some point. I think most other sports are fine in the WCC except probably men's and women's basketball but that's how it would be if this happened. |

I also believe it is highly likely that the ACC has been talking to the Pac-12 about some sort of potential deal if/when teams leave that conference.

But that leaves three other no's. Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Baylor, TCU, Houston, . . . BYU? the four former PAC schools? This is all assuming the tweet is not fantasy. |
