I'd think that is about right from what is returning and the respect those players had. This is a new group and other than Sid (gabby had spots... but needs to bring it big time this year), they all are going to have to prove they are D1 players that can play as well as a unit as past teams. No easy feat and there are some good teams/players in this league. If they finish in the top 4 I'd think it would be quite a big deal.

When you're missing Ruth, I think you automatically drop at least 3 spots. That's a tough spot to fill.

This is going to be a fun year to watch the re-tooling...... I agree losing Ruth is probably a 3 spot drop - she influenced nearly every possession on the defensive end, shot the ball well on the other end. Jamie was POY and replacing her scoring and rebounding will be challenging. And let's not minimize Deven's rebounding. That said, we do get Syd back, and hopefully as a 20ppg scorer. A earlier post called it - Gabby needs to really round into form on the Offensive end - her shooting %s have been trending downward over her career, she will need to address that for us to be in the upper echelon, because she will definitely get the minutes due to her defense. I think Gulich will bring a lot to the table, and Bre Brown was a highly rated post coming out of High School. Will be interesting to see the progression of the other guards, and also how the new class contributes. Also, can we make the transition to an uptempo team? Lots of quickness around the league to deal with. Our defensive has not been steals-oriented, more just solid D with a great post presence, how do we morph in that regard?
But looking around the Pac-12, there are a bunch of teams that are where we were at last year - returning a lot of their starters, and having had some success with them (UW, Stanford, ASU, Cal, UCLA). As long as we return to the NCAAs and continue to own the ducks, I would think it a good season, but somewhere in the 5-7 conference range is where I would put us today.
Looking forward to the season! Go Beavs!
