duckies and phil-u keep making more friends.
On a positive note when all this NIL realignment and transfer BS blows up..history will show the ducks and uncle fill a a major culprit.
Just give it time

I saw that article - hate the ducks - welcome to the party - but as has been said, pretty funny coming from the SEC. Jealousy indeed! Not so much fun when shoe is on other foot.

I remember all the hype surrounding the 2008 USC team that came to little 'ol Reser in 2008. Supposedly the best college team of all time, according to some pundits. And yet? We took them down. That was, however pre portal and NIL. The good old days Pre-portal for sure... but folks kid themselves that NIL is new. It's just got a "legal" name and some policies (that like before are not enforced, or enforceable). Big time programs have been "paying players from the beginning of organized play. And, OSU was part of it. And, just like now OSU will be a low tier player when it comes to the infusion of funds for legalized pay for play. The courts rendered "pay-to-play" a basic right of athletes that already receive tens of thousands in monetary benefits. And, then put the onus on universities to keep up to stay competitive, when it was the media companies and the adjacent entertainment industry making all the money/profits off the athlete's name, image, and likeness. So here we sit in this highly hypocritical situation... not only do the media companies continue to reap huge profits from the players and pay nothing toward the NIL, they now also control the basic landscape of college football. Glass 1/2 full, or even more, OSU will never be able to compete with the dollars and talent in the top 1/2 of each P4 conference on an annual basis. We do not have the alumni that are going to contribute millions every year to a disappearing asset. BUT, if OSU can continue to build a brand, form a West Coast conference with the MWC and ??, win 7+ games a year to be a bowl team 7+ years a decade, and continue to develop next level players they can greatly benefit from the portal. There will be plenty of left over, or cast off/frustrated talent looking for PT to shine. OSU can be one of those "hot" spots that players seek. OSU just can't pretend to be something they've never been, and will never be in terms of "big boy elite football". Some fans here will argue anything less than a P4 conference is aspiring to mediocrity and let them.

Tough to argue that is no the best or one of the best football teams of all time. You can kind of see the chinks in the armor, though.
Outside of Brown, the general lack of talent along the offensive line stood out. USC was loaded at the skill positions but had a line that could be beat to shut down the running game and get at Sanchez. It was also limited on things like screens and such, which helped Oregon State to focus on other parts of the Trojans' playbook.
When running, run it where Moala is not lined up. When passing, throw it at Pinkard. Shareece Wright was USC's starter at corner to start 2008 but broke his neck in practice right before the Oregon State game and missed the rest of 2008 and almost all of 2009, as well. Wright recovered to be drafted 89 overall in the 2011 draft but took no part in the Oregon State game, which was a big break (pun intended).
Oregon State also had 12 days to prepare. For Riley and Banker, that usually led to great things.
Oregon State limited USC to a season-low 51 offensive plays and season-low 313 yards. The Trojans were limited to 16 first downs, which was tied for a season low and only five were on the ground, a season-low. USC had the ball for a season-low 25:10. The Trojans also had a season-low 20% third-down conversion rate.
Oregon State finished with 22 first downs, the most on USC in 2008 and 12 on the ground, the most against USC in 2008. Oregon State ran 73 offensive plays, tied for the most against USC in 2008. One of the most notable offensive stats is that the Beavs did not throw an interception. Oregon State was the only team to not throw an interception against USC in 2008. The Beavs also had no fumbles. Oregon State also was 7/16 in converting third downs, which was the best against USC in 2008.
Oregon State 27 - USC 21. Great game. The good old days.

And/or a drawing in the turf, representing the outline of a headset, where Peety threw his headset into the turf just before halftime, when James Rodgers caught the TD pass on the West side of the end zone, right in front of Peety, making it 21-0 at halftime
Took my son to that game - he was a tailback at a local high school at the time. We rushed the field, and he had an opportunity to pat Jacquizz on the back on the field. He said "Dad! He is short like I am!" And I said yes son, he is. But you lack that extra gear, cannot change directions at a full sprint, and are not built like a brick........... you get the picture!

First of all, FTd!
And second, I do kind of find it hilarious that the SEC assholes are crying about the ducks trying to buy their way to the top. That is literally the game now. And Uncle Phil is literally trying to buy a national championship......and the SEC bluebloods have literally been shadow recruiting for decades.....F em.
And finally, as always I hope the quacks fall on their faces, and Uncle Phil never gets see that national championship.......the ducks are everything that is wrong with college athletics.
