I noticed that too but didn't want to say anything in case there was something obvious I overlooked. So is "dark mode" on October 5th a clever way of saying "black out", without the professor protest? Inquiring minds would like to know. That was my reading, yes.

Just like the uniforms, I'm all meh. Wear some clothes to the game. If you're a fan of the Beavers, you probably have something black or orange in your closet. Wear it.
Stripes? That was a pretty good film.

That was a pretty good film. Generally speaking, yes, I agree with you. Show up, wear something orange or black with a beaver logo on it, and be loud. From an outside perspective looking in, it can help with image, media perception, and recruiting to show coordination/unity in the fan base to contribute to the gameday atmosphere even more. If you pull off an orange out, striped pattern, checkerboard, whatever it may be, it looks great on TV and can only help the program's image. Right now that's extremely important to try and get into a conference because recent success on the field in many sports clearly wasn't enough on its own.
