RHP Janzen Keisel was selected by Tampa Bay in the 6th nround - slot value of $326,000. Keisel is the duck's top catch out of the Portal this year after pitching at BYU and Oklahoma State.
RHP Sam Stuhr from Portland U. was picked with the 1st selection in the 5th round by Oakland. His slot value is $510,000. Stuhr transferred to OSU from Lower Columbia CC and spent a year with the Beavs in 2023. He looked good in the fall but then was injured and red-shirted. He transferred to the Pilots this past season. Touched 97mph this year!

A draft pick that didn't happen caught my eye.
Jake McKowen is a very highly regarded 2024 RHP from Sacramento area who committed to OSU in 2020. About a year ago, he decommitted from OSU, arranged to graduate early, and played for a JC called Folsam Lake College this spring. This was all for the purpose of raising his draft profile for 2024.
It didn't work. Not drafted.

It didn't work. Not drafted.
How did he do at Folsam Lake? I'm wondering if he was not drafted because of ability/projecting or if he wanted too much money. I've heard of guys graduating early because they want to play some college baseball but also want to start their pro careers early. I saw Trevor Bauer pitch against the Beavers in LA in 2009. That was his senior year in high school but he enrolled early at UCLA to start his three-year clock on draft eligibility. |

Stunning! A very good High School pitcher with a fantastic opportunity to pitch for the Beavers and blows it off to attend Folsom Lake C.C. and go undrafted. Those stats probably don't invite free agency either. You have to wonder who was advising him?
I suspect Coach Dorman won't be knocking his door down with another OSU offer as well.
Unfortunate IMHO.
