I will add that the defense was atrocious this year, and it tends to correlate, in my mind at least, with a general lack of baseball fundamentals. I remain somewhat concerned about a general lack of baseball fundamentals, both offensively and defensively. I'm a big believer that the season reveals a team. This team lost 7 of 8 road games in row against SC 0-2, Nevada 1-1, Cal 0-3, and uo 0-1. That is not bad luck, if they would have went 4-4 and lost 3 by a run, maybe that would be bad luck, but losing 7 of 8 road games in a row...nahhh...that just reveals the flaws of the team. If they were better they would have won 3 or 4 more of those road games. If they were good enough to win 3 or 4 more of those road games they would have won the pac 12 and hosted a super regional and probably went to Omaha, but they weren't good enough. The season revealed it. Oregon State lost 7 of 8 road games, but four of the losses were by a run and one was by two runs. Oregon State went 2-4 in a six-game road stint in 2018 but lost only two by a run. Oregon State went 3-6 in a nine-game road stint in 2006 and only one was by a run. As it was, Oregon State should have been better than a 15-seed. They were under-seeded. If Oregon State would have won one of those games, the Beavs would have been better than a 15-seed. The 10- and 12-seeds each went to Omaha, and the 11-seed would have, if they could have beat Florida. Even the 13-seed would have been much more manageable than the 15-seed. 9 of the 14 losses were in that 33-day period. Trent Caraway and Micah McDowell were both hurt for all of that period. Aiden May was limited to 59 pitches in the first loss, still coming back from injury. Brady Kasper missed the first two losses, was just DHing for the next two losses, and missed most of the fifth, as well. The season revealed that Oregon State was beat to a pulp in one 33-day period, and lost one too many games. Sucks. Happens.

Those injuries mentioned above should not have led to the amount of losses they did. Did the injuries contribute to the losses? Sure....but a team that recruits like OSU should be able to overcome those injuries. Lack of execution......slightly overrated.....USC/Cal being underrated....sucking at conf tourney. At the end of the day I think this team bought their own hype at the beginning of the season. They realized they weren't as good as they thought, especially with a a couple key guys out. Cal and USC kicked our asses on the road.

Cal and USC kicked our asses on the road. I forgot some more. Bazzana got hurt in the first Nevada game and missed the second, the loss. Lattery was out for those 33 days, as well. If you feel like there was a team that was dealt a similar bad hand and persevered, I would love to know what team that was. Oregon State was fighting extremely short-handed for a key 33-day stretch but were just getting healthy. I personally felt that the Beavs should have been given the benefit of the doubt on seeding but were given an extremely low 15-seed. As I understand it, a lot of the members of last and this year's Committee are rotating off, which is great, because the last two Committees have screwed Oregon State.

The Selection Committee certainly did the Beavers no favor with the 15th seed. But, having said that, if you are planning on winning a NC, you have to beat everybody along the way. Playing a Super Regional on the road against an SEC team is difficult but every game you play in Omaha is also difficult. You have to be good and cosistently good from game to game.

It really means nothing unless we were a top 8 seed. Wilky can bitch about our seeding, but we still most likely would have needed to win a super on the road. And, that was highly unlikely.

Dude, there is a world of difference between playing a 1-3 seed at their place and playing 4-8. And Arkansas lost their Regional. There would have been a Corvallis Super Regional, if Oregon State had received a 12-seed.

The Beavers respond well to the OSU fans at Goss Stadium, no question about that - Call it home field advantage. Unfortunately it doesn't guarantee anything, you still have to play solid baseball at the "Super" level . We saw that recently with Auburn.
