As my high school algebra teacher said, prove the answer and show all work.

As my high school algebra teacher said, prove the answer and show all work. No. Dumb and Dumber answers back to back (both by md to be clear - although smart enough to only use one word to not look too dumb) As long as things hold to where they are and add much of anything from transfer portal, the Beavs absolutely start the year as a Top 15 team at least.

Gentlemen, the only take away from these lists is the acknowledgement of returning talent, granted no mass exodus. The fact that a couple writers picked us just means we will have a pretty good squad on paper.

Do I really have to explain why joining the WCC would nuke our chances of making Omaha next year? The roster stayed largely intact because we chose the independent route. Had we joined the WCC, we would have lost a lot of talent. I’m talking Caraway, Turley, Macias, and possibly more. Sometimes a one word post deserves a one word answer.

This got sidetracked. Wazzu joined the Mountain West, though, not the WCC, so that is where I am assuming that Oregon State would have ended up as well.
The WCC may have been better. The WCC only plays 24 conference games. I believe that they would have expanded out to 30 games.
Having said that, Oregon State and Wazzu could have requested to play six conference games against each other in the Mountain West, and the Mountain West probably would have granted that, which would have mooted some of the issues that playing a Mountain West schedule would have caused.
In theory, I love the idea of an independent schedule. But it will require things working out just right. And there is absolutely no guarantee that those things will actually work out.
So, in the end, we are throwing away the bird to chase more than one in the bush, which is great, if it works out.
And there is absolutely no guarantee that it will.
Everyone crowing one way or the other at this point is counting chickens that have not hatched.

You can say whatever the heck you please. But whatever you are saying is your unproveable, personal opinion. Nothing more, nothing less.
