From Kerry Eggers (Facebook):
"Dee Riley, wife of former Oregon State football Coach Mike Riley, has passed away. Dee was 70. They were married for 43 years. It was one of the best marriages ever. Dee was the ultimate coach’s wife. She was loyal and supportive, kind and caring to everyone. R.I.P. Dee Riley. You will be missed"

As has been said, behind every great man is a great and supportive wife. Never knew either of them personally, but what I have read and heard - really class acts - both of them. My heart goes out to Mike - I hope he is able to carry on without her. As I recall, she was struggling with Dementia - in some ways, it might be relief to have her at peace. Godspeed.

She was a wonderful person. So awful, but considering the circumstances, perhaps a blessing.

She was a wonderful person. So awful, but considering the circumstances, perhaps a blessing. Went thru this with my Dad, bless him forever. Selfishly it was very painful to visit daily and him not know, then remember, and talk about the past in vivid terms. Then to just revert. At times, I couldn't get myself to "visit", I'd be there, watching him from a distance. He was happy and it seemed mean to interrupt. I'll never be able to admit it was a blessing that he passed and was now himself. As it too seemed selfish in my avoidance of pain. I'm sure Mike and family are dealing with the same, very confusing thoughts. My heart feels for them in more ways than one. God bless

She started showing initial symptoms 12 years ago. Barely knows who I am, or her husband. Everyone else? Not so much.
But, this thread is about Mike and Dee. When Mike was head coach, I was always proud to have him as the face of the program in Corvallis, or anywhere else in the country. Whether I agreed with his on field philosophy or not, no one questioned his character, or his integrity. I have to think Dee was just like that, that they were a team. I hope he gets an extra measure of support from friends and family, and an extra shot of peace and blessing from the Lord Himself. Godspeed indeed.

Unfair and undeserved to the nth degree. RIP. Sorry, coach.
