Carson McEntire, the All Arizona outfielder from Mountain Ridge (OSU class of 2023) will play for the Orange County Riptide in the California Collegiate League this summer. I believe he was red-shirted at OSU in 2024. You probably know better than me, Chin. But, as I understand it, Carson McEntire and James DeCremer were two of the final three that fell off the 40-man roster back in February. DeCremer was left off because he was hurt.

Heard this might happen at last night's game. Checked the roster today and it's true, Laif will pitch in Corvallis this summer. James DeCremer, who redshirted this past season, is also on the roster. And incoming freshmen Paul Vazquez and Hustyn Wheeler getting some playing time as position players. according to Pointstreak: 6/24 - Vazquez, Paul placed on inactive list

I wish I knew better than you but I don't. We had a single sentence statement from Coach, "James DeCremer and Bryce Johnson will not play this year". I would assume both were red-shirted for developmental purposes or an injury. McEntire just disappeared, I didn't see or hear anything all year about him or his progress. I see him listed on the Riptide roster and according to his bio, he is still at Oregon State.

Palmer is pitching on Saturday night in a non-league game. DeCremer pitched Thursday night and was very effective.

I believe he got surgery before he even got to campus.

We should pay attention to what position Serrano is playing. He catches and plays 1B. He may not be coming in as a catcher considering the depth at that position. Serrano caught 9 innings last night with the NW Stars vs. Bend Elks (in black uniform, below). 0-4 at plate, but made good contact on at least 2 AB. Had a good plate approach. Solid LH batters stance. Showed a mature attitude in his mound visits (of course, he's only a month out of high school, now playing pretty much with/against college players). Was an absolute brick wall behind the plate, despite the NW Stars pitchers being frequently in the dirt...none (maybe1?) got by him to the backstop. I don't believe he had any throws to 2nd on steal attempts, but his throws to second at the end of each innings' warm-up were low-flying bullets. At 6'3" and rangy he's a contrasting body style to Smith / Weber.

Correction on Martin Serrano - box score shows 3 stolen bases by Elks, either I missed something or ??
I think at least one of them was an 'incomplete' double steal (runner from 1st to 2nd) while runner at 3rd only goes if throw goes down to 2nd (which it didn't).

FWIW - I've also been told Serrano might be ticketed for the picket line patrol, probably a corner. Big, strong kid with a Pro body.

How far out do we know when Palmer starts again? Projecting out Friday or Saturday?

More interested in how he did.
Jim Palmer, or Leif Garrett?
