A strikeout looking to end our season, seems appropriate. I heard earlier in the season Ks don't matter that much because we hit HRs?!

KY should be proud. They play a pretty damn good brand of baseball and execute very well offensively and defensively. Beavs need to learn from this. The 1 biggest thing about being a good baseball team is the million little things. From these last two games, they are still working ten little things and haven't got by number 7.

The 1 biggest thing about being a good baseball team is the million little things. The final game of the season came down to Nelson Keljo forgetting to cover home. Kentucky needed a heck of a play at short and another phenomenal play at third to save it, too. If the shortstop does not make that leaping catch, tie ballgame. If the third baseman does not make that play, it's a tie ballgame, and Oregon State is still batting. Kentucky made the plays today down the stretch, and Oregon State did not.

The first base ump does look like sergeant clink - I see nothing. First base ump was down the RF line for fair/foul call. Replay showed home plate ump staring at first.

Hitters hit as they are coached. Then they must have been coached pretty damn well all season. Until a coaching staff pitched to their weakness and no adjustments were made.

McDowell was cooked when he took a batting practice fastball over the middle of the plate for strike one

And, if two extremely close pitches that fooled our 2 & 3 hitters that ended up as walks, and a dropped pop up OSU doesn't score. Hmmmmm... breaks go both ways for each team. When you lose to a very good team, classy, well coached it sucks... but not as much when you're simply out played. It's not like OSU couldn't hit... their game plan was beautiful, and their pitchers executed. Congrats to UK on your 1st CWS trip.

Well someone should have been telling him to cover when he wasn’t moving as the runner from second wasn’t stopping. I’m not sure anyone did. Also the nation’s best hitter not making contact to get the tying run in was just as terrible unfortunately

A strikeout looking to end our season, seems appropriate. I heard earlier in the season Ks don't matter that much because we hit HRs?! That's what pro ball analytics will tell you at least. But I think many of us have seen this movie before, the big swinging, home run hitting team getting eaten alive by the pitching, defense, and pressure applied by a fundamentally sound team.
The home run balls are fun when you're winning games, but teams like ours can struggle when those dry up, and we saw that in the last third to half the season. We were certainly better than the team that showed up to Cal/USC, and this is a series that maybe we win at home, but flaming out in the supers was always a possibility with this team and I think many of us knew that it was a probable outcome watching them all year.
Nothing to be ashamed of, still a good season, but still a rough way to go out.

Just never did look like an Omaha team all season. A regional team, yes. But it just didn't have the look and feel. And when you finish second in a bad conference, it'll show in the post season.

Hats off to kentucky they were aggressive. I love beaver baseball and this team. Unfortunately this team never learned how to win the big game.

Striking out sucks but striking out WATCHING strikes go past you is kind of inexcusable. But it happened in this game or actually both these games and frankly a hell of alot the entire season. Yes, its on the players but when it happens this often it should be something coaching should be able to correct.
