In this day and age of power conference baseball results are needed NOW. not in 10 years. It has been Five years, Canham has a 4-9 record vs the SEC, a 13-10(soon to be 13-11) post season record. Those are not good records. In short, Canham just isn’t the guy to get us to Omaha. If ya just want a winning seasons, with a quick post season exit, then sure he’s your guy. But If ya want Championships, then Ya gotta dump the money out for a Proven Veteran Championship winning College Baseball Coach. Canham Isnt the guy to get us a natty. Time to move on to a Proper College Baseball coach who can. Beavers DESERVE their NATTYS in Baseball. We’re a Blue Blood Baseball Program afterall. Don’t settle for Less, Demand the Best!! Feel better now that you got that out of your system?

Ok, I’ll bite and play devil’s advocate just for conversation sake. Do you think LSU expects to make Omaha every season? If you’re a blue blood program like was stated then why wouldn’t you expect to make the CWS every year. Does Alabama expect to make the football playoffs every season? If they do they are stupid. I wrote up a big thing awhile ago but the longest streak since the 50's is either 4 or 5 in a row. Perennial powerhouses will go 2-3 times a decade if they are lucky. I could see this changing with NIL but expecting CWS more than once a decade is pretty delusional. Rational goals are essentially making the post season and hosting a regional. Making the post season is an important step for every program and should be the yearly goal. On good years you host and you have a shot to make it. On really good years you are a national seed and your chances are even better. We are on a 7 year post season streak. The regional we one this year was our 9th ever. We have made the CWS 7 times counting 1952. Anything past making the post season is not only hard but takes some luck. Literally our most successful baseball team ever didn't win their regional. Until this loss Mitch was slightly ahead in career win percentage of PC (although obviously PC built it from scratch more or less). H has 37, 48, 41, 45 (so far) win seasons. Things are pretty good. Plus we haven't even lost yet, bats could wake up and we drop a 20 burger to force game 3. Aaagh, the idea that Casey built it from scratch bugs me. Between ‘81 and ‘94 the Beavs had Conference Player Of The Year 7 times and a real good record. They’ve had 8 CPOTYs since. During the Riley years the conference was 2 teams smaller and they didn’t go deep into postseason like they have since 11 years AFTER Casey Arrived. Casey built a great team, but it wasn’t from scratch and it took a decade+ to make it into the CWS.

Yep, with some people’s current expectations projected back then, Casey would have been fired before he got us to the CWS.

So, my post was, more or less, to start a conversation or comment on the reply by BeaverG20 below: —“Honestly the worst part of the baseball program success is the f%#*ing whiners with insane expectations for the program. Every team has them, but these last few season have been damn unbearable. People bitching about winning 40+ games and acting like we should be in Omaha every season. There are valid criticisms, and then there is f%#*ing lunacy.””— My point in response was that, either, 1) We’re NOT a “blue blood” program as was stated earlier in the thread and so, yes, those expectations of making the CWS every year are unrealistic, or, 2) We ARE a “blue blood” program and so, therefore, it IS fair for fans to expect CWS every season or most seasons. I, personally, feel that with where the program is/was at when Canham took over it’s reasonable for players and fans to expect a CWS showing most years. Will that happen, sounds like statistically probably not but I think we’re due as it’s been awhile. Does that mean the coach has to be fired if we don’t make it 2,3 out of 5 years? I’m not sure that’s fair or realistic but if we don’t EXPECT Omaha and championships then we’re not a blue blood program.

In fairness I wasn't alive for most of Riley's tenure so I'm not able to go off anything more than what I'm told and read. Riley had a fine program but it's just not much of a comparison at the end of the day. Everything has a foundation though, I'm sure there's some old timers that would talk about what came before Riley.

Regional final Game 2, 2021; Super Regional Game 3, 2022; regional final where we were eliminated by the national champion, 2023; Super Regional, 2024.

Canham is the guy for us, period.
The players haven't performed at key points, including yesterday.
Still have a shot to get to Omaha. Guys gotta show up

It is tough to get to the CWS and it is even harder to win. Too many things have to go right to win it all. One bad inning here and there will slam the door shut to winning. To think another coach would do better is not thinking clearly.

10-0.....1-0...still just counts for one game. Part of me has a lot easier time handling this throw away loss game than I would be had we lost 3-4 on a walk off in a game we thought we had. But alas, we get another shot at it today. I think we can at least push this to 3 games. Tomorrow I'm not as confident, but let's at least make them play the game. I agree. same with football/basketball. As a fan I think it's easier to move on from a butt kicking like this than a close game. You can just flush this one away. A close loss is just a lot of woulda, shoulda, coulda thinking and drives you nuts.

The bottom line is that this is a message board. Most fans I sit around and have visited with over the years do not make as many wild statements about player talent and team expectations. Most do not speak to "hype" and expound at length on "potential". Almost all are realistic, many have played, coached, or both and know the game is unpredictable and hype does not necessarily equal production.
Fans at OSU have high expectations, players and staff always will spout high expectations... it is what they believe and really, what else are they to say? But, once play begins all sorts of things happen. Some seem to forget that besides all that can happen in the course of a game or season, opponents also have players, coaches, and aspirations. It is not a one-way street. It is then that "realism" sets in and some on here have a tough time when hype does not equal what actually happens. It is an OSU board so typically it is some conspiracy, poor calls, more recently NIL $, or the portal that has caused poor old OSU to not succeed. Very rarely on here will you see a "... we just got beat by the better team today..." There is always some machination of umpire, NIL $/bought players, what OSU did not do. Versus... maybe (12) Ks were due to an EXCELENT twosome of "pitchers"? Maybe, the errors, wild pitches, were due to the offensive pressure the opponent presents... bunt, hit, run... the pitchers/defense were always thinking, tight, and in reaction mode.
UK was the #2 overall seed for a reason. Yet for some on this board it was almost BS, cuz of course the seeding is bias, the wrong teams get in, undeserving teams host, on and on. OSU as a #15 seed on the road versus the SEC co-champ and #2 seed, and winning is an upset. If you were a UK fan at 3-0, thru the 6th you probably were questioning the UK staff and a bit worried. As there were some wasted opportunities for UK to have a bigger cushion. But, that is baseball and sport in general, there is ALWAYS, ALWAYS multiple opportunities to be the 2nd guessing genius. Because of course those guys not only know what should have been done, they also know the exact outcome if it was handle that way!
I'll add, those that base their speculation of a team like UK and this series based on writeups of guys that have seen mostly highlights and stats... the guys at sites like D1 baseball... know as much about the outcomes as you or I, or some MGM bettor. They pick, praise, and write for one reason only... clicks and money.
As for MC, I've stated my thoughts on him and his staff. The look and act the part, but are still in their "infancy" as college coaches. They are learning on the job, and the status of this program has accelerated their learning curve. Forget that to get to a place where you are even competing for a CWS on a regular, let alone yearly basis, you have to be very good. However, that also means OSU has to play VERY good, highly talented, extremely well coached teams. Sometimes the scoreboard may make it seem like some teams are undeserving, but all 64 in the field are capable of winning games. Fewer of winning Regionals. From that point on your either playing a highly talent/skilled team, or one that is on a roll. No preseason hype or expectations matter in the postseason. It's show up or go home... no excuses.

Most of the rest of what you say is true, but you keep gaslighting us about seeding being hunky-dory. Stop it!

Most of the rest of what you say is true, but you keep gaslighting us about seeding being hunky-dory. Stop it! LOL... only you dude. It is the way they pick them and for now the committee decides, not you. And, in no way do I think it is "hunky-dory" (thanks Mom). And, basically your opinion is meaningless in terms of reality. There is no perfect selection process. It is what it is. Complain all you want. But, the reality once in teams have to win. And, your two examples seemingly have proven they belonged. The overall success of the higher seeds exceeds what one would expect hence your ongoing seasonal complaints are baseless as illustrated by this season's astute claim that FL was undeserving and Cal was a better choice!! No bias in selecting there. So, now, the king of 2nd guessing (and it's not even close on this board!) and absolute "Kreskin" of what would have happened done your way... will probably tell us FL lucked their way thru the losers bracket of the OKSt Regional? And, also got a break by getting to travel to 6th seeded and overrated Clemson and winning game #1. What a undeserving team... I'm sure Cal could have done the same thing. Would I have picked FL? Probably not. But, what does that matter... they have actually proved the committee correct in including them. For a team with a poor overall and poor conference I believe they did play well over half their games vs tourney teams. But, of course you probably had zero issue with the 2007 OSU team being selected? Or did that team also prove the committee had some better insights than an attorney sitting at his laptop? And, CWS Virginia is also undeserving of their seed? Gaslighting is your forte. I just don't waste time trying to expound that I know better when it is again after the fact and literally makes zero difference. But, of course "wrong" is in your astute never been in the room, let alone on the NCAA committee, 20/20 hindsight. Maybe it is your simple distaste that creates your bias. From the consistent diatribes on the topic, probably more so than the bias you claim exists.
