First time that Oregon State beat Tulane in four tries.
First time that Oregon State beat the American Athletic Conference Champion in the postseason. Oregon State opened the 2019 postseason with the American Athletic Conference Champion, Cincinnati, and lost 7-6.
It is the first time that Oregon State overcame a 3+ run deficit to win a Regional opener since 2011, when Oregon State overcame a 4-0 fifth inning Arkansas-Little Rock lead to win 7-4.
In the Tournament's current format, Oregon State has started by winning the opener in the Corvallis Regional three times by exactly six runs: 2017, 2018, and 2024. In all other Corvallis Regionals, Oregon State won by three runs or fewer: 2005, 2006, 2011, 2013, 2014, and 2022.
10 runs is the most runs scored by an Oregon State team in a Corvallis Regional opener.

Makes me feel better about this game than I did during the early/middle innings that's for sure. Also just goes to show you can't take anyone for granted in postseason ball, and that 4 seeds tend to have a quality arm or 2 they can throw at you in game one.

Tulane oddly threw their Saturday starter. I still refuse to believe that Oregon State needed to throw their Friday starter to win. Also, I think that May would have been even more successful with a different umpire behind the plate. The umpire tonight seemed to lose some of the breaking balls in the waning light. Four walks is the most walks for May, since May walked four at the end of April 2023 against.......Oregon State. 2017 and 2018 Oregon State started their Saturday starters and won by six.

Win with Kmatz tomorrow and then the argument is moot hopefully. Segura is going Sunday regardless.
Agreed the plate ump tonight had a tight zone, especially early, but it was consistent both ways and was fair. No complaints and our hitters did their job as well.

I agree. As long as the umpire is calling it the same way for both teams its good. It's up to both teams to adjust to it. When it becomes one sided is where any issues arise.
