Curious to see what the staff does here. I think you have to go with McM the rest of the year regardless and hope he stays healthy. You're going to get the people who want to see Collins get work at QB, but his future is at WR. He's worked hard to improve there. If you take him away and put him back at QB all that does his hurt his WR development for 2017 and beyond. Of course counter point, if the QB cannot get him the ball he isn't exactly getting the reps needed to improve.
Everyone loves to play coach, what would you do?

McM starting and get Moran ready as #2 with Collins as 3rd (all assuming Blount is dine too. It's tough to potentially burn Moran's year but it's an emergency.

If Garretson and Blount are unavailable, the other quarterbacks on the roster are? McMarion, Moran, and is there another walk-on?
As a side note, what we are seeing is a huge negative of using a running quarterback. I know Keaton and Garretson were both injured at Utah State.

QB injuries are the single biggest reason I was not in favor of going with this up tempo scrambling QB offense. You've gotta be stacked at QB to even have a chance to compete. In years were Oregon lost their starter to injury, they struggled. Mostly because their backup QB wasn't great. I mean, Brady Leaf, Nate Costa, Justin Roper, Jeff Lockie, anyone they have this year.....Last year we used 3 QBs, this year we've used 3 (at a minimum)....the path to success is fraught with peril when you deploy the running QB. We aren't tOSU, which can replace Braxton Miller with JT Barrett and then Cardale Jones

Neither Blount or Garretson were hurt when they were running. They were in the freaking pocket. But I do agree if you are going to have your QB be part of the running game you'd better have enough.

It is almost as if Riley didn't use them on purpose... I don't necessarily think we shouldn't have a dual threat QB. but I do think that we need a BUNCH of them. maybe having seven QBs on roster last year wasn't that terrible of an idea! Dual threat QBs take more hits and are more likely to be injured. it is what it is. Even Mariota, who was an absolute wizard at avoiding bit hits, got hurt.

How about Caleb Saulo? Versus burning Moran's RS year. I was just watching some highlight vids of him in HS, and he seams to have a pretty good arm, and can run the spread. Link: CALEB SAULO'S HIGHLIGHTS

Link: CALEB SAULO'S HIGHLIGHTSIf he weren't a starter it might be an interesting concept. It's still an interesting concept, maybe just not a wise one. Any other OSU players played QB in highschool? Usually there's a few that had that experience. If I were the coach I'd be giving Collins a few more reps at QB this week in case MM goes down. I'd hate to see Moran burn the redshirt, and we do have a bunch of receivers (although it was hard to tell this last week from the drops, but there's some talent there).

Everyone loves to play coach, what would you do? Considering McMaryion is the only other non-true freshman QB on the roster, what else are you gonna do? Garretson has THE lowest passer rating in the nation. OSU has THE lowest yards per pass play in the nation. McMaryion is likely the best passer on the team. If the coaches can't tweak the offense to fit McMaryion's skills, then they shouldn't be coaching at this level.
