Horrible news. What a great player, great man, and great ambassador for the Pac-8, Pac-10 and Pac-12. At least he won't have to see the mess the Pac-12 has become.
RIP to a great human being.

This one saddens me. He was probably my favorite "sports personality" of the last several years, maybe decades, having watched him at UCLA as a junior high kid...basically 50 years of Walton.

What a life, what an attitude about life. Going to that great big Grateful Dead show in the sky. RIP He certainly loved life, loved music, loved his family, loved competing while always respecting his opponents for bringing out the best in him, loved being a teammate, loved the natural world, and loved sharing that overflowing enthusiasm with others. Overcame a serious speech impediment to create a career as a commentator. All while confronting serious chronically painful health challenges for a good portion of his life. Gone far too soon - he had much more to give. But a life well-lived. So long Big Red.

Ahhh, sad news. My two athletic heroes from my 10 - 13 year old age were Walton and Bruce Jenner.

A great basketball player and from all those who knew him and had interactions with him an even better human being. One of a kind.

Google “ bill walton bike for humanity “ and read his message about the organization he founded. The world was a better place because of him. A rare soul who never let his fame effect his. We should all live our lives with his curiosity
