Luzinski was my favorite. Then Joe Lis. I remember Oscar Gamble catching a foul ball pop-up with a sweeping downward motion. A couple of times my dad umpired a game at South Eugene HS. There used to be a pedestrian bridge on Amazon Parkway. I'd go along and watch the Em's take bp from the bridge. Joe Lis “ the mayor”. Grew up watching that team. Bob Boone and Larry Hisle too The Phillies had some great talent in the 1970s and 1980s, but their path to the WS kept getting blocked by the Dodgers until 1980. Then they got back in 1983, lost to the Orioles. They also had Ryne Sandberg, signed by Bill Harper. Then the Cubs stole him from them as a throw-in in a trade after Dallas Green went to Chicago from Philly. Dallas knew where the talent was in the Phils' farm system. |

It is rented out to almost every level of play. They have their "own" Mavericks college/adult/old man league, and youth teams and tourneys. Corban used in for practices and their home games. All the OSAA baseball championships were held there on a Fri/Sat, but I saw that all 5 are on the same day, June 1, so there is no way they are all at Volcano... if any are? Mickey and crew want everyone to believe the current Volcanoes are in some way still the short-season A Volcanoes! |
