Hard to complain about not being able to follow the most important series of the season since I was in the mountains catching fish, but it was excruciating not knowing how the Beavs were doing..
Now that I've had a chance to look over box scores and game thread comments, I'm not sure what all the angst is about from some. Maybe I'm missing something. So here's a recap from someone who didn't see, hear, or follow live stats and had to wait until last night to piece the weekend events back together.
We won 2 of 3 on the road against a ranked team and at a place we have historically not done well. I'd say this is good to great result and maybe more overlooked is, we had to win the first two to give ourselves a chance in the third. We came out, did that, and made Saturday a big game.
Looks like all three of our starters were effective to dominate in their outings on the road. Kamatz in particular, had some questions going in and answered them all. Great.
Macias has really emerged over the season and become an important factor in our success. He was missed Saturday and yet we still had the lead going into B9. The good news is, sounds like a temporary absence.
Guerra had a multi hit game and Trosky delivered a clutch hit. A lot of other little nuggets I spotted which all bode well looking ahead.
The numbers suggest our defense played exceptionally clean, 0 errors on Saturday. Given the field, location, and stakes, that's especially noteworthy IMO.
Bummer to not close it out Saturday, the overall series revealed a lot more positive than a bad half of an inning tainted in my view.
