Was randomly searching through newspaper archives and came across this article from the Register-Guard circa July 4, 1976 ('Merica!) about how the hot rumor at the time was how the Pac-8 was going to kick UO OSU and WSU out in favor of bringing UA and ASU from the WAC .... of course they were ultimately added two years later without any resulting attrition news.google.com/newspapers?id=watVAAAAIBAJ&sjid=3uADAAAAIBAJ&pg=6451%2C608235 |

USC indicated that Arizona and Arizona State were better schools than Oregon State and Wazzu. USC then said that they would leave, if Arizona and Arizona State were not added, which got everyone to go along with adding Arizona and Arizona State. |
