Hard loss on Sunday. Reverse the call T9 at 3rd and we score 3 runs instead of 1. Their pitcher did a great job.
in retrospect, winning a road series against a probable host, with a top ten pitching staff and losing the 3rd game in the 9th is quite a feat. Yes, they were weak in the OF, but we lost Macias and still don’t have Carraway. I am most happy that we proved we can win a tough series on the road.
I think Mitch will play his pitching for the long game, he knows he will host a regional and will want his starters to be fresh for that.

Well, however Mitch plays his pitching, he still needs to learn when to yank a pitcher or not. More specifically, why the heck pull your pitcher who's absolutely cruising in the sixth inning for a shaky reliever, who likely cost us the game.
I remain thoroughly unconvinced that the Canham-Dorman management team is suited to take a team to Omaha and do well there. Or even get through a super-regional.

The only thing that I could think with Segura was that, if you pull Segura there he may be available against Stanford or Arizona State, if need be. I still hate the idea of sacrificing one championship to chase another, though.

That was just a sad way to end the year. With the ending of the Pac. And our chance to take one win on our way out. One thing to look up to and hold. And then to get so close and choke. Sad. Hopefully the team is handling it better than me. Hope its not another Nevada blown save tail spin.

I keep hoping for a regression at least to the mean. It is the worst won/loss differential in one-run ballgames in a season since 1993 (1-7). It has not been fixed and still needs to be fixed.

I remain thoroughly unconvinced that the Canham-Dorman management team is suited to take a team to Omaha and do well there. Or even get through a super-regional. This is why Segura got pulled
Second time through the lineup against Pac-12 foes Utah: Walk, single, single, pop out, single, HBP, single, single, double, pulled after 8 of 9 got on base
Washington: Walk, strikeout, single, GIDP, ground out, strikeout, strikeout, fly out, ground out Arizona State: single, home run, double, single, single, double, pulled after 6 of 6 got on base
Stanford: Walk, triple, ground out, single, strikeout, strikeout, double, fly out, strikeout, pulled after 4 of 8 got on base
California: Fly out, walk, strikeout, fly out, ground out, single, home run, single, ground out o: Ground out, home run, strikeout, strikeout, strikeout, pop out, walk, walk, pulled after 3 of 8 got on base (on top of getting roughed up the first time through)
Washington State: single, single, strikeout, fly out, fly out, ground out, fly out, strikeout, pop out UCLA: ground out, ground out, fly out, fly out, ground out, fly out, fly out, single, walk Arizona: double, ground out, strikeout, walk, single, GIDP, ground out, strikeout, strikeout, pulled after 3 of 9 got on base
Third time through the lineup against Pac-12 foes Utah: didn't make it Washington: fly out, ground out, ground out, strikeout, strikeout, single, pulled after 3 of 15 got on base
Arizona State: didn't make it Stanford: didn't make it California: ground out, double, ground out, strikeout, ground out, walk, single, pop out, strikeout, pulled after 7 of 18 got on base
o: didn't make it Washington State: fly out, double, double, strikeout, single, pulled after 5 of 14 got on base
UCLA: single, fly out, pulled after 3 of 11 got on base
Arizona: didn't make it
Now, what makes one believe that Segura would have been able to get through the Arizona lineup the third time through without any problems? Yes, this was his best outing against a regional contending team, however the more batters are exposed to his pitching, the more vulnerable he becomes. Getting 5 innings was the best we could get.

Which sport we are talking about is not important. When something doesn't go OSU's way, you will be here with your take - "the coach is stupid." The OSU women's golf team only finished 22nd out of 31 teams at the NCAA championships. Arrgh! If Coach Shockley would have only taught our women how to chip and putt better.

You "know me" AG?? Obviously you surely don't seem to...when, IMO, our teams are well coached, I say so. When coaches repeatedly make (again IMO) obviously bonehead moves, then I also say so. And as for your take AG, I'm certain that if, rather than criticizing Canham, I had posted something praising him, you'd have said nothing. "We know" that's your style.
That's the difference between us....I'm always a Beaver, but I'm also willing to call it as I see it....bad or good.
