Segura is another in the long line of stellar freshman pitchers the Beavs have had over the years. Got pulled is a BAD IDEA!!!! He did well tonight with only 66 pc. There is a weak bullpen and I can’t trust bullpen. Look what happened to bullpen!! When will Dorman and Canham figure out ?? Pitch count was never the issue, its exposure to the batters. Segura can't go long, and we've seen this season how lineups just square up on his pitches after one time through. Recently he's been able to get through the lineup twice without too much trouble, but he's still not ready to go three times through.

Take a deep breath. Our bullpen is actually okay. Weak is an exaggeration without a doubt. Our bullpen is not our strength, but once again, we finish near the top in ERA in the conference. Let’s not be too reactionary here. We only lost two series all year. Same as 2018. The bullpen is a weak link. Yes, they come in at times and perform but they aren't even close to being reliably consistent. A closer that has plunked 16 batters. If the hitters weren't performing, the record would be a lot worse. There have been a lot of games where the Beavers had to outscore the other team. Even the starters had issues here and there during the year. Although they have been excellent the last few weeks.

Our team ERA is top 15 in the country and number one in the pac 12 once again (for all those Dorman haters). I will stand by our pitching staff going into the postseason. This is where Beaver legends are made.

Personally there are only two guys who don't make me nervous when they take the mound... Aiden & Jacob. Most have had highlights but very inconsistent.

Pitching may have “lost” the game, but not hitting left the pitchers with little to work with. Their starter beat us, fair and square. He controlled the game.

If I was to have one qualm about the bullpen I don’t think it’s the talent or the numbers. I think overall we have ton of talented arms and have put up good numbers as a staff. My main thing is just the edge. Be a psycho. You need that in a bullpen. I think we just have a lot of generic personalities. Killer instinct goes a long ways. Nothing Dorman can do about that. Up to the kids to dig deep and find that second gear.

And they each lost the last Pac-12 series in March and the first road Pac-12 series in April.

Bottom Line is we lost the game because we don't have a lockdown dependable closer this year. Our offense was good enough to give us a 1-run lead going to the bottom of the 9th on the road against the conference leader throwing their ace. The offense did its job. Our closer faced 3 batters and failed to record an out---HBP--inexcusable---walk---inexcusable---double clearing the bases---game over. Last years closer Ryan Brown would have put this game away in the win column for us. I have little confidence in us getting to Omaha this year without a good closer.

In case you haven’t noticed, there are nine other players on the team who are also responsible for that loss. Four of them (Turley, McDowell, Kasper, and Talt) couldn’t buy a hit. That’s our #2, 3, and 4 hitters going silent. That’s not “getting the job done.” Don’t pin this on one guy. In fact, don’t pin it on us. Just say “we were outplayed today; we’ll get them next time.” And I have certainly seen worse teams make it to Omaha.
