If ua beats Utah tonight we need a sweep. if Utah beats ua then we need a sweep of ua or 1 Utah loss in their sc series. either outcome for tonight’s ua Utah game the only way we control our destiny is a sweep. With sc help 2-1 vs ua wins the regular season conference.

I have determined we should just finish the season 7-0 and sweep Zona.

needless to say it is a very important series. Currently Warren Nolan has us winning the first two and losing the third.. That is a "random" generation for what it's worth based on all the stats, so everyone in theory gets a different answer everytime you run predicted results. I got one with us winning 2nd and 3rd game...

Nolan, by being so 'live' (and I hand it to them for their instant updates to RPI, etc.) is subject to wide 'swings'. Just a few days ago Nolan had OSU finishing in 4th place in the PAC-12: UA - UO - Utah - OSU. That result is still possible btw. But right now (9:40 am PDT Monday), Nolan shows OSU sweeping UA this weekend and wining the Conference.....OPPS! apparently it's changed again (9:51 am PDT Monday). Thank goodness they actually play the games, this Nolan stuff is less credible than the proverbial 'grain of salt'

Never since I've been going. I think we're like 4-8 the last 4 series there. OSU did go 2-1 back 2011 after getting blasted 18-0 in game 1. And, 2-1 in 2009. OSU is 5-5 the last 10 overall counting a Pac12 tournament game.

Going by the stats, it looks like UA just doesn't beat themselves. They lead the league for fewest free passes by a lot. They seem like a modest hitting team. They hit less than half the HR's than the Beavs which seems odd for a team in the desert.

In past years, the warm air and hard infield have seemed to work against our strengths of pitching and defense. I believe this time we are coming with a much more conducive strength to Tucson - offensive firepower. Let's hope that works.

I seem to recall our pitching being an issue the last time we played at UA. I also seem to recall us having played in a very cool wet climate much of that spring and experienced an extreme change in weather during that series which could certainly be reason for pitchers finding it difficult to get the same results. The hotter local weather this weekend and rest of this week looks to help ease that transition markedly compared to 22' and could be a big blessing in our favor. That said, it's hard to sweep, harder to do it on the road, and even harder when you're playing the team leading the conference standings, but it's not impossible if we're firing on all cylinders. .

Another thing we both have in common, both UA and OSU pitching has not faced OSU's offense. That's about to change for them and luckily not for us ; )
