Continuing with some good recruiting... Fargo AA and nationally ranked Manny Saldate commits to Beavers. He has been coached at Slam I believe by Chase Pami. Tough kid. 133/141 is where he is projected. Is he a 2025 or 2026? He's a 2025; Willie has him as the #16 overall 132

He is 2025.... had some pretty good wins last year. Wrestles in some tough tournaments. Finished 8th at 132 in Fargo - pretty tough weight that Jax Forrest won.

Flo has been putting out weight class previews and just put out 197 with this tidbit . . . "word out of Oregon St is that Munoz is moving up to 197 this year".
My initial thoughts: - gets him away from Keckeisen/Starocci - gives JRad a redshirt year - gets Buchanan in that opening Iowa dual - gets Ferrari (if he's still on the roster) and Little in conference
I like the move for him; it's his best chance to go out on top of the podium. Probably makes us a weaker dual team but I don't think that mattes too much in the grand scheme of the season

Welp.... the cat's out of the bag. You might remember that he went 92kg at the open back in the Spring. As coach P said, he was born to wrestle 197! I don't think it makes us a weaker dual team- we will be solid.

I did remember 92 kg but I figured that was an off-season not wanting to cut decision; I started being curious though when JRad went up too. Is this our lineup this year? 165- 184 has so many possibilities. . . 125 - Renteria 133 - Whisenhunt 141 - Singleton 149 - Tolentino 157 - Hamblin? Menke? 165 - Olguin? Fouret? 174 - Olguin? Harman? 184 - Harman? Stephens? 197 - Munoz 285 - Attao

They also had several guys at the same weight travel with them to some of the tournaments. I think that will happen again this year. 157 is the most interesting weight with Stiles, Hamblin, Menke, Jacinto and Starren (or 165). . We may see multiple starters there until it irons out. I think we will also see some starts/traveling from Garver, McDonnell and Hastriter. It's great to have some good back-ups, good redshirt and a deeper lineup than we have had.

For sure and there's always early season open's that'll function as a de facto wrestle off too - or at least weigh in the decision

Not sure where to put this, this thread may be as good as any. Coach P was on the 2nd hour of KEJO today. I caught bits of it from my bad reception in the Salem area live. He covers our WT medalists, runs down the weights and guys, teases the queue entertainment as fans are waiting to get into Iowa dual. Hope to be able to listen to it all soon. the-joe-beaver-show.simplecast.com/episodes

Pre-match will be a great time! Plan on being there very early then watching us scrap against the best team that money can buy!

Pendleton and Munoz on Flo's podcast today - talked the upcoming season, weight moves, packing Gill etc. solid listen but I don't think there was anything ground breaking that came out of it.
One tidbit Pendleton dropped - the Penn St match in January was the biggest revenue generating event in Gill history and the AD asked him how they do it again but better
