A couple of things he said that really stood out to me.
1. When asked about the entire Beaver fanbase compared to the best fan bases, Fitt said, “It’s really the only west coast team that is in that same category with those SEC and ACC fan bases. It’s the most important fan base to us (D1baseball.com) on that “half” of the country.” He later says, “It’s a really engaged fanbase guys, it’s really special what they have built out there, it’s one of the few places, I hate to say it, but it’s one of the few places on the west that really really matters to a significant amount of people.”
When he says, “it’s the most important fan base to us on that half of the country,” that spoke volumes to the national respect we get, and how strong our baseball fan base is.
2. When Parker mentions that our offense has had its struggles, but we may have found our way back, Fitt first response is, “Ya having McDowell back is a huge piece.”
I’ve always said that our offense is so much better with McDowell. He is very skilled offensively, and he is a vet. He hits for a high average and puts the ball in play, we need his bat in the lineup.
3. He states, “I can absolutely see this team going on a tear to finish. It just feels like this team should be a host at least, given the talent, the caliber, of that roster, with the history in the program, it’s the last year in the Pac.” He later states, “I have a feeling they will find a way.”
