I liked to nap. I should have redshirted and taken kindergarten over. Then I would have been 18 (not 17) my entire senior year of high school. I could have ditched my fake ID and hit the bars legally instead of having to wait until about a week before I left for college.
All my friends turned 18 about halfway through my senior year. It sucked not being able to accompany them to bars, or to not be able to buy beer legally.

Trent has publicly stated that he would have signed out of high school if he had been a first round pick. He said he believes he has first round talent and does not want to settle for less. After missing, most of his first year to injury, I doubt that he will reach that status after only one "real" year of college ball (1925). If that is the case, and he meant what he said, I think the odds are good that we have him for three years. Pretty sure Trent is 1st rd quality in 1925. Probably an All-Star! 😉

My kids are both August babies. We started them at expected time. They are younger than most of their classmates. No big deal for the girl. For the boy, if we could do it over again, we'd start him a year later for maturity reasons. Sports have nothing to do with it for us. In fact, I find that my son is being pushed harder playing against, and with kids who are at times, a full year, or more, older than him. In other words, I think there can be a benefit for kids who are younger, in sports. I agree. My kids are are pretty big, borderline humongous, for their ages. More my son than me daughter. My daughter struggled making friends on her 12u softball team last year as a 10 year old. There were 13 year old young women on that team. They were like a different species. But she learned how it feels to be s%#t on and in the coming years won't be that girl. Team captain this year. Probably helped her in her leadership qualities. My son makes friends with the older boys just fine, but still gets tears in his eyes if he strikes out or even gets thrown out on a force play at second. Not much I can do about that but reinforce that baseball is a game of failure, and we all go through it. He will mature. In the end, we are all doing what we think is right with our kids, some people are just short sighted, lazy or ignorant. I'm definitely not perfect, but the kids are doing well.

Was already highly touted coming in. Missing half the season won’t do much to change his draft status especially with a non-lingering injury like a broken bone. He’s going to the Cape already so if he does good there and pairs that with a good sophomore year he’s in good shape. I’d love to have him for 3 years but most publications have him high in draft rankings. Barring any meltdowns usually guys like that get paid.

Expect to lose Turley, Caraway, Macias, Trosky and possibly Krieg to the draft next year.

Macias would need to take a step up in his production to get a signing bonus of over 100k. I don't think Trosky and Krieg are close. Maybe they can make a huge improvement to get drafted in the first 250 or so guys.

Don't know what round but his ball skills are solid with a good enough arm. Krieg cuts his strike outs down by 1/3rd and plays a full season I think he gets a solid look. His power is undeniable and he is a good and gigantic first baseman. Completely disagree on Macias. His left side hitting is already good enough, strong arm, great base runner/bunter and his defense is ++ in the outfield. He either needs to drop the switch hitting again or improve his right side and he will be an absolute menace next year. Caraway and Turley are going to be in the first 3 rounds unless they get detailed. Macias top 5 or better.

I’m really hoping Gavin plays his last game for us in 2025. He is one I worry about moving on after this year. Almost everyone has a number $$$. Scouts saying that if he can show that he can play centerfield next year he is a top 10pick. MLB centerfield is a power weak position, only two starting centerfields projected to hit more than 25 homers

Macias has the ability to go in the top 5 rounds. Krieg could go anywhere from rounds 5-10 depending on the year he has. Trosky I could see be a late round type guy or a free agent sign. Turley and Caraway are top 2 round type talents. The big one for both of them will be can they keep the strikeout percentage down to around 20ish%. If they both can do that I don’t see a reason both of them wouldn’t be 1st rounders. Next year we could truly have more high round picks than this year. A top 5 pick this year most likely. And 2 probable 1st rounders next year.

MLB centerfield is a power weak position, only two starting centerfields projected to hit more than 25 homers I don’t think scouts see him as a center fielder. Macias probably the CF next year anyways. The position doesn’t really matter. He has all the tools it’s going to be the strikeouts for him. A good example of this is Rodney Green Jr. at Cal. Left handed hitting CF with all the tools in the world. Came out of the summer projected to be a back end 1st rounder. Strikeout rate of 42% this year. Unless a team really believes in him the computers will kill him in a draft model. Which is why most people have him in the 3rd or 4th round now.
