That was our first Rubber Match of the season, I believe. And we won. In enemy territory. Crank it up, Beavs! I can make an argument for the cancelled game 3 vs the trojans as a rubber match. |

Welp….. “it worn’t purdy,” but they got the job done. Um...respectfully disagree: it WAS pretty. You an I have a different definition of “purdy,” I guess. Don’t get me wrong; winning the series is great! But….. we gave up too many hits to an average PAC team, we’re STILL making uncharacteristic defensive mistakes, and we left, what…. 11-12 on base? “Ain’t” purdy, respectfully submitted. |

Wait... late to the "naming game" here  But... as everyone here already knows, "triple crown" has long been a baseball term. FWIW there are pitching and hitting Triple Crowns. I'm not sure if accurate records are kept for college ball, but (18) hitting TC's (BA, HR, RBI) have been won in MLB history... the last in 2012 by Miguel Cabrera. That was the first since the back-to-backs by Mantle and Yaz in '66/'67. Pitching TC's (Wins, ERA, Ks) have occurred (39) times... although #39 was in the 60 game season of 2020 but Shane Bieber ( 8, 1.63, 122). The last time before that was in 2011, in both the NL and AL... Kershaw (21, 2.28, 248), Verlander (24, 2.40, 250). And, FYI, last I remember hearing there have only been (13) TC winners in horse racing. And, as for Baz he is close for Pac12 players: Overall Conference HR (24) 1st (13) 1st RBI (55) 2nd (26) 4th BA (.422) 2nd (.378) 4th |
