At this point it would just be a loyalty bet. There's almost nothing to go on. This is probably the least certain about results I've been in 20 years.

I worry about the passing offense this upcoming season and, while hoping for good things from Gunderson, I am not 100% sold on him yet. Don't think anyone has any reason to be sold on him at this point. Gunderson inherited a talent deficit. Top 2 QBs, top 2 RBs, top TE, top 4 OL, top 3 WR, all gone. While it may be easier to get guys who can play Gunderson's sytem than Smith's, in the Spring game (based on 12 minute highlight reel) our skill guys (QB, WR) did not impress on the whole. Gabarri Johnson has the talent. He needs reps and WR talent to work with. The former is easy if he stays healthy. The latter? I don't know. I've been really frustrated with our WR recruiting/development ever since Hodgins left.

I'm not close to hand-wringing over the offense at this point. I like McCoy, Johnson and Gulbranson at QB and I think the guy that wins the job will do well. The summer will be huge for the QBs and WRs as far as working together and developing chemistry and getting the younger, highly talented, WRs up to speed. The RB situation remains above average, IMO, with Jam and Hankerson. The interior of the offensive line looks to be very good. I'm more concerned about the tackles. They have no way of matching Fuaga's play on the right side. Just hopeful that the tackles are at least average. I have high hopes for the defense. I'm convinced that it will be at the very least pretty good and potentially great.

ESPN has him listed as a guard now but everywhere else still says tackle. I would think left tackle should still be a strength with him back. Do agree though that the right side of the line will be a question mark, can't expect anyone to just jump in and replace a first round talent like Fuaga immediately.

The offense might be a step below what we are used to seeing. But, overall the defenses we face will be that or worse.

I believe he was out for all of spring practice. He did say that the plan was to move him inside because that's where he's projected to play in the NFL. But it was a little unclear as far as if that would be a full move or that he might also play some tackle. As far as I can tell from his interview, he has not really even practiced playing guard at all.

But it would be nice to be strong enough to at least be a serious threat to take down Oregon

When you're no longer conference mates AND budgets/ donor money isn't even in the same ball park... it's a nonconference game. And, an early game where both teams are basically restarting from ground zero. It'll be interesting to see. It'll also probably be one of the last home games (after a while) with a team that'll be in a lead position in a super conference. The future will be weird.

Their AD budget was 150% of ours this year. We haven’t been in the same ballpark for decades.

I'm convinced that it will be at the very least pretty good and potentially great. I think this team is loaded with potential. I’m pretty much in agreement with everything you said. It’s hard to judge the WRs at this point with Clemons out, Jordan Anderson still learning the offense and Malachi Durant yet to arrive. That’s a lot of talent to add to the mix. I also don’t think the guys who have been getting reps are scrubs either. McCoy and Johnson are going to give us 2 solid options at QB IMO. Very athletic guys, especially Johnson. Hankerson and Griffin will give us a strong running game and I think the Oline will be ok, especially given the level of competition for most of the season. Defense looks very strong at linebacker and corner. Safety’s and dline have a lot of options, hopefully there are some potential stars there. I feel like this team wins 6 games on talent alone against this schedule. If some things come together, I feel like 8-10 wins is likely. I’ll predict 9-3.

I would take the under. Too much lack of continuity. Big learning curve. I'm concerned the ucks will demolish the Beavs.
