They're JAGs until not, why does he deserve credit for filling a roster at a major D1 university? How about he earns some credit for winning basketball games? I posted that because in my opinion he has exceeded my expectations by quite a bit. Like I said, no longer a Coach Tinkle fan. Many coaches would do the same thing and be called on the carpet for underwhelming pick ups. I see it the other way, hence the props from Spudbeaver. I still think we can do much better, but for now, this is what it is. Who established those expectations!?!?!

You speak for all fans now? He has 2 tourney appearances in 10 years, with 3 wins. He has 1 winning conference record in 10 years. His average conference finish is 8.8(we'd need to do the maffs on every other program to know if 8.8 is 10th or 7th or whatever but that's his ranking itself). The fewest losses a Beav team has had under coach Tinkle is 13. His conference winning % is 33.5. The last 3 years it is 18.3. But hey we're trending up, right? 3-28 11-21 13-19! At this rate we'll host an NIT game in 3 years. He's overseen some of the most historically bad losses in our program's history. He lost to Portland State twice in one season by a combined 25 points. He lost to Tulsa(twice), Samford, UC Davis, Portland(twice), Wyoming(twice), Kent State(twice), Long Beach State(TWICE), LAMAR, Charlotte, Savannah State. QUINNIPIAC. Wtf is Quinnipiac? If Korculabeav doesn't speak for you then you're a part of the problem. Perhaps you could compare his 10 years with the previous 23 or so years for a bit of perspective.

I’m more than good if you disagree. It would be neat if you had good reasons for disagreeing but I’m fine regardless.

Were we going to play with 8 guys on the team? You're praising losing.

Your statements are illogical.

I don’t see any praise. I see a low key statement equivalent to “well, now would you look at that? The special kid just made a free throw. Who would’ve thunk it?” You are making a mountain out of a molehill.

I might not seem it to you, but I am immersed in reality daily. In the important stuff too, not just college sports. Maybe my expectations were so low that yes, I think a coach deserves praise for filling out a roster. Maybe my expectations were exceeded because it looks like the incoming players are serviceable plus. Maybe I understand how the Transfer/NIL deal came front and center at the worst possible time for OSU basketball. By Coach Tinkle and AD Barnes's doings of course. Maybe I still endorse moving on to a new coach (I do) but I don't have a problem accepting and admitting when the current coach does something that I believe is good for the program. Maybe it's that being immersed in a sea of bad news I thought a little good news was warranted and would be welcome. You disagree. Like I said before, that's fine.

Are you for real? So, ee1990, what is your excuse? Why do I only see you on the board when you are here to criticize the team or other posters, or when the beavers lose? Show me some of your pro beaver posts - I would love to see them!

WT confuses me to no end. But WT makes me do something I think we need to do more of in a world full of complex situations: hold multiple competing thoughts in our heads at the same time. I believe WT runs a clean program and recruits players that stay out of trouble, which I think is a basic job requirement but I've been around long enough that, even at OSU, we've had some coaches that were unable to do that. When I watch WT interact with his players on the bench and coming and going off the court, I'm left convinced the guy is trying to provide coaching to his players. When I watch his teams play, I'm often left wondering if he can coach. When I recall the wonderful and heady Elite 8 run, I want to credit WT with having some hand in it. When I ponder the season he had leading up to that run, and more importantly, his inability to leverage the run by even getting us to the NIT the following season (shouldn't a team that was one of the last 8 playing that returned most of its personnel the next season at least be a team that's among the last 100??), I wonder whether the Run was just "blind squirrel occasionally finds a nut" - some random confluence of events that only occurs every 40 years in Corvallis. I believe the "coaches sons" got special treatment, for the record, but I also don't begrudge that fact (I got my undergrad degrees from the same department that my father was a professor in, and I got special treatment from his colleagues (and from him when I took his classes - in that I was [publicly] banned from going to office hours or speaking about the classes at home lest I gain some advantage)). And I don't know if WT is a great recruiter, but I give him A TON of credit for landing a bunch of willing signees after the team was decimated by transfer, and (perhaps for the first time ever) hope Scotty Rueck will emulate WT, move fast, and right the roster ship in WBB. I have also mostly checked out of watching MBB in person or on TV (I get in trouble with The Management for yelling not nice things at the TV when WT teams are on of late), I admit to a rekindled interest in seeing how this new crop, old coach and new conference work out for us. So, lots of competing thoughts in my head about WT. But - kudos on the recruiting this past month or so, Wayne! :-)
Go Beavers!
