I understand this team doesn’t bunt as much, but why not bunt Macias when Turley is on second with no outs? Get a guy to third with one out and 4/5 guys coming up. Oh well, up two in the ninth. Can’t ask for much more, just have to be able to finish. Whiffed then fouled. It was a little league effort. One of the things I miss about the Casey teams, things like that NEVER happened. Every guy could bunt. |

Other than Cal we've been good for 1+ games. It's any game where the pen has to go 4+ we've got to "fix". Probably why May was extended. Can't throw this start away. Hope 114+ isn’t going to bite us?! 114 is a lot, but Aces should be able to do it on rare occasions if they are dealing. If for some reason it ends up biting us, that’s just bad luck. I don’t think there was any way he should have been pulled earlier in that game. I did agree with pulling him in the ninth for Holmes. Great to see Holmes come in and look really sharp for the save. Even though he had a bad week last week, Holmes has really good stuff and has been a dependable closer for us. Overall, stellar pitching performance all game. Go Beavs! It helps that he was never in trouble and was ahead in the count all night. Much less stress mentally and physically. |

And not far removed from a pitch count and a 2-0 game is plenty of mental stress. I'll stick with... great effort by May, but this situation showed the lack of confidence in the pen. Good news, no excuses in game 2 & 3... OSU's pen fully rested (Holmes can go each game for at least an inning). Oregon used one of their best out of the pen for 2 innings. |

I had to check the calendar to see what year it is after that pitching performance. I wonder if Walsh was having PTSD flashbacks when he saw #50 on the mound. Is Brown still in his head?

Screw the ducks coach. Unsportsmanlike BS. He knew his team was getting whipped by May. Instead of accepting reality he throws out a BS substance on the glove accusation.

It's not unsportsmanlike unless you infer the reason. Coaches use the ploy all the time... to buy time. Ready a PH, extra pen warm, free time out to confer with hitter, etc. Or, a mind game to change tempo. Rarely does a coach actually think there is a foreign substance or tool to scuff involved. That said I've got no clue his true motivation, but can say MW's rep is not one of being unsportsmanlike. |
