Dorman whistling past the grave yard.

Dorman whistling past the grave yard. I was struck by the number of Dorman statements that revealed a 'no clue' or 'it'll get better' or 'expect him to come around' type mentality. “Jaren likes to hit guys for whatever reason…I expect him to throw some big innings for us down the road.” Tyler Mejia (his opposing batting average is .311). “The numbers are what they are, but … Now he is starting to lock in.” "I expect a response to adversity from Bridger. He is still the best closer in America in my opinion.” Joey “could be lethal as he continues to get acclimated.” Ferguson “Sometimes he tries to overdo it…Getting him to trust who he is will bring out the best version of himself.” Nelson Keljo “It’s going to turn for Nellie. … Nellie will be big for us down the stretch.” Laif Palmer “He is going to be really good for us at some point.” “I really do like this group,” the pitching coach says. “The more they come together, they can be almost unhittable. It’s on them to continue to grow, to go out and compete."

Pretty vague, and mostly coach speak.
Sum it up.....as a group, our staff is not where they need to be to reach Omaha, which is the expectation for this program.
Hope it comes together down the stretch. I agree with him that the potential is there, but so far there's been too many uneven pitching performances for a high level program.

Definitely coach speak. Tough to be definitive right now on some of these guys, and the hope is that some of them turn it on down the stretch, similar to young guys in the past like Reyes, Abel, Chamberlain, etc. Mundt and Holmes have proven to be pretty reliable, with the exception of Holmes last week. I’m not sold on Keljo or Palmer yet, even though they both have big time arm potential. Keljo frustrates me a little bit because he has more experience, and he has a live arm, but he just hasn’t taken that next step yet as a “pitcher.” Was really counting on him being more dominant this year. I have little faith in Mejia. I don’t see the swing and miss stuff that is needed in big moments. None of his pitches are elite in my opinion. His command has also been spotty this year. Jaron’s last outing was promising. We really need him down the stretch. I think Lawson has looked a lot better his last two outings as well. Another vet who we need to perform in order to make a run. I think confidence is an issue for Lawson. You can almost see it when he gets in his own head. He loses command and overthinks things.

Lawson has looked really good his last 2 outings. If he can continue to show that kind of stuff it will really help down the stretch.

Lawson has looked really good his last 2 outings. If he can continue to show that kind of stuff it will really help down the stretch. Best case scenario for mid-May, PAC-12 tourney, and beyond: Given the demands placed on a staff by a more compressed schedule
beginning on 5/16 (possibly 8 games in 11 days, all in the State of Arizona) -
having effective outings by veterans like Lattery, Lawson and Hunter would be huge.

Mike needs to stop with this whole asterisk talk about Travis approaching the all time single season home run record for the Beavs.
How many home runs would Bazzana have with drop 4 bats, not limited with the current standards, playing JUCO and NAIA teams 10 times a year?
Already more home runs against D1 players than Jim ever had. Anyway, I'm just annoyed by this kind of talk.
Nice work by May so far, hope we can close this one out. And, oh yeah, Rich Dorman must not suck that bad, because Aiden May has improved considerably since he got here.

They were like swinging a steel pipe.

Do you really think the guy is going to call his pitchers out publicly? You like it when your boss reamed or belittled you in front of your co-workers, or publicly shared your job evaluation?

Hmmmm wonder what they call a fan who makes them feel better/superior by tearing down other fans?? Guess...

Chin wasn’t criticizing anybody. Any article with a coach has spin. Chin was simply saying Dorman had some spin in the article.
