Seems odd Newell would wait THIS long as a backup and leave when he was finally going to get a ton of PT.

I think your going to see a decent amount of offensive player shifting with how different the offense is. Some guys are just not going to be suitable for some offenses and some may just not enjoy playing in them.

Seems odd Newell would wait THIS long as a backup and leave when he was finally going to get a ton of PT. Jam & Hankerson are going to get 90% of the work. So unless Newell was hoping for injuries he's looking for more than 3rd string.

Seems odd Newell would wait THIS long as a backup and leave when he was finally going to get a ton of PT. I think it is because he figured he wouldn't. It is one thing to be a #1 guy, make a big to-do about being loyal and to bail halfway through spring after you got part of a payment, while lying about why you are doing it only to walk it all back after being caught in that lie... it is another to go through Spring, evaluate the situation and go look for playing time because you found yourself still buried on the depth chart. Obviously one is different than the other.

It sounds like our running backs are going to have to be a little more versatile within the new system. Folks who showed up to ram it down their throats might not fit the new approach.

Well, dang. I was really high on Newell, but he didn’t seem to elevate when given a chance, albeit few and brief. I still think he can be a really good, powerful back. Good luck to him.
Lowe would crush it in this offense, I believe.
