. FOR SEVERAL YEARS RUMORS WERE ON THE HORRIZON ABOUT THE SHAKEY PICTURE WITH OUR CONFERENCE. I WOULD NOT BE SUPRISED IF RUECK LOSES THE OSU LUSTER. HE CAN COACH D-1 iI PREDICT HE WILL END UP PRESSURED BY GOOD D-1 COLLEGES TO MOVE ON. IT IS NOT HIS JOB TO SAVAGE THIS MESS. It depends on his priorities. Does he want to rebuild in Corvallis? One could argue its a bigger challenge than wherever else he might find himself. He's going to have a long leash. That may not be the case elsewhere. And maybe he wants to live in Corvallis. I have no idea what Rueck is thinking right now.......I would not blame him if he left though. His frustration level has got to be thru the roof. The relegation killed what he built.

The key question is how long does the unrest in the present landscape take to settle. Between university/conference lawsuits, NCAA player comp lawsuits, NIL contracts, further loosening of transfer eligibility and broadcast contract renewal time lines there are $billions in play. This will unfortunately not move quickly as a result. Some of these decisions will make and feel like the “amateur” athlete is now a professional. If so, why are tax payers funding it (bonds for facilities) and why are donations tax deductible? The changes on the horizon may impact many.

In the meantime, our athletic department is left for dead, with vultures already picking us apart.
