31-2-0 2017 29-4-0 2024 27-6-0 2005, 2013, & 2018 26-7-0 2007, 2011, 2014, & 2022 25-8-0 1986 24-8-1 1975, 1997, & 2019 24-9-0 1964, 1982, 1985, 1987, 1994, 2006, & 2016
Oregon State started 2017 31-2, but 2024 Oregon State is the first Beaver team to go 29-4. And I should point out that Oregon State was 28-2 on April 13, 2017, not winning game 29 until April 14, 2017. 2017 was the second-latest possible start to a season, as opposed to third like in 2024 (and an extra day for Leap Day). Additionally, two games had already rained out in 2017 versus the one in 2024.
The last four teams to start the season better than 26-7 have all gone to Omaha. Six of the last eight teams to go better than 25-8 have hosted a Corvallis Super Regional. Seven of the last eight would have hosted a Corvallis Super Regional had they won the regional. And the eighth (2011) would have probably hosted a Corvallis Super Regional had they not finished the regular season on a five game losing streak.
2024 Oregon State would need to win four straight to tie 2017 Oregon State and then the next 23 to maintain the tie.
No Oregon State has ever started 29-5 or 30-4.
2013 and 2018 each started the season 29-6. 2024 Oregon State would have to lose twice in a row to fall down to that level.
