I think OSU should suspend basketball until invited to major conference to save coach’s contract money. If continues won’t be many fans coming to the game and won’t make any profit. The “profit” is made from media contracts not fans in the stands. The WBB team was drawing more fans than the men and they lost around $3.2 million last year, while the MBB team made a profit. From a business standpoint, you would save more money canning the Women’s program. Suspending programs often results in permanent shutdowns. Being in the WCC hasn't hurt Gonzaga one bit. I wish all of the sophs had stuck around, maybe could've given Gonzaga a run for their money in conference play... guess they didn't think they could.

Kids want nothing more (outside of an education:) than to make it to the dance and we don't offer that frequently enough.

OSU can't cut multiple athletic programs and stay D1.
But, without seeing individual contracts most have an "adequate funding" clause. If budgets dictate programs can be cut with drastically reduced buyouts. Or, salaries can be reduced by a set % equal to or less than the budget shortfall.
For now neither will happen.

I think OSU has over limit by one or 2 programs. Maybe cut swimming program.

I understand the original poster’s frustration and disillusionment with college basketball. I don’t particularly like all the recent changes that have led to the “Wild West” environment. Some day I may be making the same decision as him or her. But is it just me or did anyone else get a chuckle out of the poster lamenting the fact that it is all about the individual, money and “attention” — in a post in a thread he or she created to announce he/she is “finished”? Looks like college basketball players aren’t the only ones who like attention.
