After 60 years of living and dying with Beaver basketball, I am finished.
I cannot continue to invest that much mental energy or money into something that no longer resembles college basketball in its heyday. It is no longer a community. It is all about the individual, money and attention. I will not attend, I will not watch on tv, and I will not care. If the remainder of the womens basketball players move on and destroy a beautiful thing that they have built, then I will do that same with that team. I am now a baseball and football fan only.... and we shall see about football.

Pretty much right there with you. It's gotten so out of control, I can't stomach it anymore. College sports used to be such a passion of mine. It's hard to acknowledge that it's a part of my life that no longer is going to be there. Wondering how long it is before something is done- blow up the whole thing and start over.

Come on, guys! You just need a Wilky-size shot of positivity! Turn that frown upside down! After all, only 94% of players that enter the portal actually end up transferring! With all that Tinks has to sell them, they'll surely be back. I'm sure something like this happened in 1905 and the team rebounded to crush the '06 season, or something like that!
Rah Rah Sis Boom Bah! It's all good!

Unless of course NIL and WCC aren't the only reasons players transfer out??? But, hey... at least one poster will be happy. As of now Marrs will be a starter!

I used to try to comfort myself by thinking that all of this portal/NIL business was going to kill the golden goose and that fans would quickly be turned off by the whole thing.
I have come to realize that, at least for the near future, the only two programs that will be gutted by the system is ours and Wazzu. Look at the numbers, college sports have never been so popular, we are just not going to be part of the discussion going forward.
This is about the affiliation, it has little or nothing to do with 'business as usual' transfers out.
The only thing that will save us in the coming years is the recognition that the realignment idea was a bust, and regionalism returns in some form. Short of that, we are slipping away towards mediocrity. My enthusiasm level is slipping away along with it.

My finish: …you’ve likely lost a big group of loyal fans and donors with disposable income that have poured a lot into Oregon State over the previous decades.

As for sending a message, words don’t mean much but the dollars speak in volumes.

I think OSU should suspend basketball until invited to major conference to save coach’s contract money. If continues won’t be many fans coming to the game and won’t make any profit.

I think OSU should suspend basketball until invited to major conference to save coach’s contract money. If continues won’t be many fans coming to the game and won’t make any profit. The “profit” is made from media contracts not fans in the stands. The WBB team was drawing more fans than the men and they lost around $3.2 million last year, while the MBB team made a profit. From a business standpoint, you would save more money canning the Women’s program.
