WSU is feeling the loss of popular basketball coach Lyle Smith who resigned to take the HC job at Stanford. Now they can grieve over the loss of their Athletic Director, Pat Chun who resigned to take over the Athletic Department at the University of Washington.
Chun was an able partner with Rick Barnes and OSU during the breakup of the PAC-12 Conference and the subsequent navigation for OSU/WSU that took place following the collapse. WSU is now left without an A.D, without a basketball coach and without a conference affiliation or media partner. Look for WSU to fill the AD position fast and from within, probably with their Deputy A,D,

Rick Barnes was pretty busy, working at OSU and coaching Tennessee! Unless I'm mistaken, WSU has a conference affiliation with the WCC and the MWC for the next two years, same as us. And it appears they have a TV deal on the immediate horizon.

Clearly, big-time college sports turns out to be infected with more than a few hypocrites whose morals make common streetwalkers seem virtuous by comparison.
I just don't have the same enthusiasm for college sports as I once did.

Over the years there have been a few other instances of Coogs becoming Huskies.
An AD before? Mike Lude?
Basketball coach. Was it Harshman?
Football coach. Dick Baird.

I’m wondering if WSU will just promote Jim Shaw for their basketball coach. He was previously an assistant for Romar at UW. Also was an assistant here and a head coach at Western Oregon.

Just another one of those OSU FB HC's who left for a better job after their success at OSU. Like Prothro Like Riley (2x) Like Erickson And unlike the 3 above, Smith as a player led OSU on the field to its greatest season in program history. But what can I say? Haters gonna hate. Go Beavs!

Was the WSU athletic director in any kind of conversations with UofW leadership group about the position while he was negotiating a settlement on behalf of OSU and WSU? The optics alone are bad enough that someone should be looking into the matter.

Chun was all up in arms about Wazzu being left behind........only to bail to one of the very schools who he were directly responsible for the Pac 12 implosion. It's a bad look. Chun is FOS. It really just goes to show you these guys are a buncha liars, and change their tune as soon as it suits their needs.

The optics alone are bad enough that someone should be looking into the matter. I very much doubt it because the previous UW AD just resigned last week. The memorandum of understanding was reached several months ago.

I could see this as a good thing for both us and the Cougs.
Throughout the process of the conference remake and our legal disputes he seemed to be a man of integrity/character and a dedicated representative for WSU and for OSU for that matter. Through that process, I believe some strong bonds were created between he and OSU leadership. They shared the trenches and a common battle. That could become very useful now that he's at UW. He may prove a sympathetic partner when it comes to scheduling games in all sports in the future among other things.
