He did his job at WSU. Now the peace treaty has been signed, he can go to UW, no conflict in interest. Good hire by UW.
Hard to blame him. There are going to be about 40 top-flight AD jobs in the country within the next five years, and he'll have one of them. If you are an AD with ambition, you don't turn down the Big Ten.

Makes me think there may be no grand master plan. This is my biggest fear. All this talk of staying flexible and ready to seize the best opportunity...does this provide a clue as to how remote any good opportunities really are? I'm sure Coug fans are livid, and I can't blame them. I can only imagine how I'd feel if Barnes became a duck. Ugh. But on the other hand, I wonder if this might provide a little 'behind enemy lines' advantages. There's a thread on the baseball board about our future schedule...will UW now be more willing to play WSU and OSU in other sports? And if there is another big realignment shakeup, will we have a prominent ally speaking up for us and the Cougs from within the Big 10 ranks now? Who knows....but what a crazy development... |
