Thought I would start a thread for all players who the Beavers have contacted.
Nils Cooper — freshman at Pepperdine. Was top 100 recruit coming out of high school (Santa Monica). The 6-5 shooting guard played in 33 games (started 2) and averaged 20mpg. Scored 5.0 ppg on 47% shooting, (22% from 3) and 2.8 rebounds. Highs of 13 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists. Second in steals on the team with 29.

My first thought is we already have at least 8 kids that can hit better than 22% from 3 point range. Doesn't mean he's stuck at 22% though.

Mine was we only had 2 guys shoot better than 47% who took more than 100 shots — KC and Tyler. Haven’t seen him play, but a guard with size who can shoot and seems like might play some D, plus a top 100 HS recruit with 3 years of eligibility — sounds pretty good to me. Three-point shooting may come and even if it doesn’t, not bad other skills/attributes to have on team.

I thought the 47% was a good number as well. We do have 6'5" shooting guard with better stats, albeit at a lower level, on the roster already...A lot depends on how he recovers from his injury.
games- 31 pts/g-16.5 fg %-51.5 3pt %- 38.4 ft % -85.1 reb/g - 5.5 a/g - 1.9
The injury recovery for Meithof will play a big role in whether we bring in another SG, unless the coaches want to help push another player towards the transfer portal to make extra room...could happen. If the coaches think this kid, or another, could be a be a better player for us than Nate or other current players for us, he could be recruited. Who knows.

Reportedly Beavers have contacted Cooper, so I’d say they’re in at least the preliminary stage of recruiting him. I’m interested in seeing how Meithof does, but I’m not penciling in his JC stats for the Beavers next year. Hopefully he is at least a good rotation guy though.
As to why recruiting him, like you said might be because of the Meithof injury, might be because Akanno isn’t coming back or might be because he has potential to be best guy at that position on Beavers at some point. If WT thinks he has a chance and that this guy can make Beavers better, he has to recruit him and worry about the numbers if they get him. Again, don’t know how good this kid is, but that is Wayne’s job.

Beavers along with a pretty good list of teams have reportedly contacted J’Vonne Hadley from Colorado. The 6-6 wing averaged 11.6 ppg, 6.0 rpg, and 2.4 apg. Went for 16, 7 and 3 against Beavers this year. Would be a great add, but I’m not going to hold my breath on this one.

www.spokesman.com/stories/2024/mar/29/wsu-wing-andrej-jakimovski-and-center-rueben-chiny/Couple more WSU players in the portal. Not sure these guys would be looking for a switch to OSU per se but both would be solid adds. Chinyelu was a freshman center who set the freshman blocks record for WSU and would fill an immediate need. Jakimovski is a decent defender and 3 point shooter (shot a lower % this year but historically is pretty good) who is a grad transfer and would add a lot of experience. 5 players from WSU in the portal now, will be interesting to see if any others join them.

Stats from freshman year aren’t very good, but was a top 75 player coming out of HS.

Does Tinkle have an edge on (the ghost of) Joey Meyer? Well, I believe Holtmann signed his 8th transfer today, so seems players might think it is worse to be recruited by Oregon State unfortunately.
