Every Pac-12 team received an invite. With the new NIT rules this year the regular season conference champions that didn't win their conference tournaments didn't automatically get an invite. Instead the top 2 teams in NET from each power conference got an invite and a top 4 seed+guaranteed home game and the rest was filled with at large bids. So for OSU to have been invited every PAC school above us had to say no. And then we also said no which is why just Utah is playing in the NIT for the PAC. Interesting we'd turn down a home game but I guess everyone else did too so maybe we did it out of principle.

Interesting we'd turn down a home game but I guess everyone else did too so maybe we did it out of principle. From everything that I read, only the first two teams in the Pac-12 received an invite. There may have been some extreme confusion here on someone's part or multiple people's parts.

If this is true, and it seems hard to believe, I want to change my answer in the “time to get rid of NIT” thread. If they’re inviting 5 win conference teams, it is time to get rid of tournament.

We didn't deserve a bid, obviously. Gottlieb's had a mad-on for us since his brother got fired.

Well all I can say is I’m glad they had to turn them down. The Tinklette’s would have declared the rebuild a success and say it was only fitting since Wayne got an earlier NIT stollen from him.

I need some additional evidence to believe this... I can't imagine this team getting an invite (it is the invite that I don't buy)

My understanding is that we were asked, it rightfully came as a complete surprise, couldn't have pulled it off as some players had already finished finals and had left town.

What would make you happy Re: MBB? 1). Fire Tinkle(drum out of town), 2). replace all players with backup players on other teams in portal, (maybe tear down Gill), 3). hire Mike K?? That do it? Who's going to pay for this tear down/coach debt? Who will come here, coach or players, to play in the WCC/MWC? Details please.

I am still confused, the NIT bid order was:
1. Utah (Accepted) 2. Washington (Declined) 3. USC 4. UCLA 5. Stanford 6. Arizona State 7. Oregon State
According to USC, they were never asked. How did it skip over USC?

I don't know, but skipping over USC is always a good idea.
