well if the ACC implodes we can hopefully get the bay area schools back...not sure what else their choices would be as they had no interest from the other conferences.

Given the level of arrogance already displayed by Stanford, I think they'd be silly enough to try to go independent before being lumped in with the new Pac-(insert number). However, I think Cal could be lured back with a piece of cheese and a scratch-off ticket.

But I think the ACC will attempt to stay alive and will reach out to OSU and WSU to join. That scenario could be good if the ACC is able to build a bigger West Coast pod with the addition of probably at least three MWC schools and SMU. The pod could also take form as the new Pac-12, which merges with the ACC to form the PACC. It really depends on how big a hit the ACC takes. The addition of the Bay Area schools would certainly strengthen the foundation of a rebuilt Pac-12 but with the way things are headed in college football, I'm not sure how big of a difference it would make financially. Probably strong enough to bring in somewhere between the G5 conferences and what the Big 12 is slated to get in the new CFP deal. But probably much closer to G5 level.

No idea what new '26 on CFP contract states in detail, but...
- if the ACC/Pac2 + ?? join forces somehow it's 35+ times more $ than staying independent or not having a new Pac?? recognized as a power conference;
Also depends if the amounts being tossed are lump sum #s divided by the current # of schools. Or, actual #s by school in that conference. If adding schools lessens individual payouts some ACC teams may be very happy with two less members and more $?
If those #s are reflective of Clemson (or even FSU) being a member, will the committee adjust payouts to the ACC without.
And... Clemson (and FSU) must have landing spots already arranged to go thru these lawsuits. So, are these CFP #s hedging those happening?
Either the G5 bands together and negotiates their own media and "CFP", or the Pac2 has to find some unexpected $.

Some news from today re: the Pac-2 and the CFP deal: Pac-12 statement: "The Pac-12 is pleased the College Football Playoff will continue to grow as and incredible sporting event for our student-athletes and fans. The new agreement to continue on ESPN platforms provides excellent opportunities for Oregon State and Washington State football programs to succeed on the biggest stage in college sports."
Jayathi Murthy: "An improved distribution of CFP revenues has been agreed upon to better reflect the excellence of OSU's and WSU's athletics programs and the strength and support of our alumni and fans..."

I can see San Diego State and a second team. UNLV? Who else, though? You would have a seven-team West pod. Play all seven teams and then one home-and-home with teams back East. Play Notre Dame every fourth year. That works out pretty well.
