Yep. And I believe (I've stated it a couple of times on the board) that Rueck is going to go after a bunch of foreign players. It just makes the most sense in this situation. I think there's still hope of putting together a decent roster (definitely by WCC standards) but time isn't on Rueck's side. He has either waited to long or tried hard in vain since portal has been open. Rueck can recruit yet he has been short changed sad to say. This mess is very sad. What can he say to recruits. He can recruit this situation has made it very unfavorable though. I wonder if he has spent a chunk of his time on some "bigger fish" only to have them swim away. Not to mention the time invested in recruiting players for a few years only to see everything change drastically. It's nice to be in the running for Dauda and she would be a huge get for the Beavers at this point but it's going to be a hard thing to balance trying to get the type of players that were the norm for the program and acknowledging that you might need to put higher consideration into players that would have been either not quite there or just recruited for depth in the past. I have no doubt that Rueck understands the situation but that doesn't mean it's not going to be a struggle for him.

Historically he's shown he knows what he is doing. So I'll trust the man, and his process.
No interest whatsoever in anything Ms. Beers has to say; certainly not going to register to some fan site to read it. Other's mileage may vary, of course.

Has Oregon State ever dropped (yes, dropped...plummeted would be even more accurate) from the Pac-12 to the WCC? Has Rueck ever dealt with that before? No? So history has nothing to do with it. I think he is learning a new process on the fly. We'll see how it all works out.

Lots of things happen in the world that have never happened before, and experienced leaders with a history of success have dealt with them appropriately. When he came here, he'd never inherited a program that had only one or two players. He managed. Yes, we will see how it works out. I'll trust Rueck's track record. Which is exactly what I said in the first place.

It took a couple years, but going from GFox to a D1 program is a bit tougher than staying at a great program undergoing change albeit not in leadership. He'll be fine... but, as before it may be a year or two in transition. Scott has to keep his standards while acknowledging the changing landscape, and at the same time not go overboard as there may be another transition in the near future.

Let's be honest, oregon is recruiting to the B1G, we are recruiting to the WCC. Looking through the ESPN top 100 women's recruiting rankings for the 2021, 22, 23 and 24 classes and the WCC does not have any top 100 recruits. Gonzaga did sign the number 87 player in 2020. Our top three scorers last season were top 25 recruits. As long as we are in the WCC we are going to have to win with 3-star recruits, which we can do in the WCC but it will be challenging to say the least to be a national program. The best transfers are taken, we need to fill out the roster in the next week or two. Unless we are going to fill it out with international players, but obviously there is completion for them as well. If we go too much longer, I think we're going to have to start asking Benny's House members if they have any daughters that play basketball that have eligibility remaining. Fixed, now days : If we go too much longer, I think we're going to have to start asking Benny's House members if they have any daughters or sons that play basketball that have eligibility remaining.

From estimating the average age on this board......asking about grandkids may be more appropriate.

My grand kid is only 5, so it's going to be awhile. But after jabbing me with "Grandpa! You're always watching basketball!" she threw in the towel and started watching with me.
Mission accomplished.

Ok Henry---I will put my trust in Rueck---He does have a lot of great former players out there that might be able to send an under the radar prospect our way, but at the rate things are going I wouldn't be surprised to see open tryouts this fall after school is back in session to fill out the roster!

I doubt that will happen. He has four months until school starts to add six or seven players. My guess is, he'll do that.

The NCAA just passed a new rule allowing men's and women's basketball programs to host as many official visitors as they want.
OSU needs another half a dozen players from the portal. The best transfers are taken, hopefully we start adding players soon before we have to scrape the bottom of the barrel to fill out the roster.

Scrolling through the schools it is amazing the number of programs who lost 7 or more players to the portal. I only made it to the letter E, but the schools from A - E, 18 schools had 7 or more players enter the portal. As a fan it is getting so you have to learn a new roster of players every season.
