Agreed with all the things you just said. Totally get-it. It all adds up until it doesn't. Something wasn't working for her. It might have been too much too fast, we don't know. My take is this time and place was/is too big a stage for her at this phase in her career/life. Sometimes the heart and mind are in sync. My hunch is the decision she made to jump from Green Bay to OSU at age 16 was not the right one, her heart and mind were out of sync.
These kids. Lilly is still a kid, 19 or 20 years old. The adults in her world; parents, coaches, family, teachers, profs, friends, docs, etc, are still pulling most of the strings in her life. Ever look at somebody and get a hunch "they're lost?" Thats what I get when I see her. She is a wonderful person, lots to offer this world, all waiting to be discovered. Hopefully some lucky school/coach discovers her authentic-self and helps her discover it. OSU just wasn't for her.

My take is Rae was not happy here. Nothing to do with OSU basketball. Think it had everything to do with culture, wanting to go home, that sort of thing. Bless her hart. Side observation. On camera and in front of a crowd her personality shined. That's hard to keep up. Off camera it was a different story. She very well may not have been happy here (I have no way of knowing)...but now that she has announced transferring to Oklahoma, with her 1st reason being that "God Has a Plan"...it makes me think that it may have had something to do with "culture". For me, that's part of the reason that I love living in Oregon (for 75 years now), and you couldn't pay me to move to Oklahoma. My take on it, God is planning to pay her more money in Oklahoma.

When it comes to Lilly I have Bias. I hope nothing but the best for her. She was over-the-top kind to people/fans after the games and off the court. Epically sorry it didn't workout for her at OSU. I absolutely admire player growth and development, this past she did both. As I explained in an earlier post, saying 'it didn't work out for her at OSU' is absolute bull s%#t. She was at a better program than her high school ranking might have justified, she got more minutes (including important minutes) as a sophomore than she did as a freshman, her college level game was developing nicely (hence the additional minutes), she would have been in a position for even more minutes as a junior, she was very popular with the fan base, she played in front of big crowds, she got to go to Italy and Hawaii (twice), she got to play in the Elite Eight, her team finished ranked higher than 341 other D1 teams (and higher than where she'll wind up next year will), and her team would have been top ten her junior and senior years. What the f%#* wasn't working out? Agree---I think she was fine with everything at OS until most of her teammates bailed on her after the season was over!

Talia made a mockery of the process. When she entered the Portal, it was obvious she was going to USC where her boyfriend transferred to play football. But before she can do that, she’s got to get her trips lined to to a bunch of big name schools because it helps her brand and she gets treated like a Queen. There was never going to be much money for her, for two reasons. She’s a 5th year senior and only one year to play, not a ton of leverage and the real reason, she’s not that good or consistent. Foot speed isn’t good, defense /effort is inconsistent, her shooting comes and goes. Great court vision and hunt juju and Kiki will benefit from that for sure. It’s a pretty good fit for her and USC, but why the world tour to get to this point? Exactly right 02beav!...Some of us predicted she would be following her BF to USC immediately after she declared for the portal for "personal reasons"...Her well advertised world tour was just to divert attention away from this fact and to make it look like she was actually considering other schools which she wasn't!

One of the best shots in OSU history against UCLA.

If Lily had stayed she would have been a starter. Likely not a starter where ever she ends up.

One of the best shots in OSU history against UCLA. Yep.....she played her ass off against USC the next game too. But that's kind of the point of our frustration. This group took us to great heights, and presented themselves as a "family".....then poof, see ya!

My take on what has happened is….it all started with Talia and her desire to transfer because Scott’s offense does not fit her goal of playing in the WNBA….not up tempo enough. Plus, playing at USC is all about exposure. Scott’s offense was good enough for Sydney Weise, Marie Goliath and others but not for Talia. IMO…I’m not sure Talia’s skill set is WNBA ready but I don’t fault her for trying. It’s all part of “watering the grass.” Once Talia entered the portal …it all started to snowball.

TVO Had outgrown it here, OSU. She seemed older than her teammates in non Gill campus settings. Always epically friendly, kind to fans, and secure in her own sensibilities. Deeply appreciate that of her. Hope she achieve continued success at USC.

Thing is, take away TVO, the team wouldn't even miss a beat. Sure you miss the veteran leadership, and big play ability. But that roster was young, and full of talent. Just from the vibe of the whole thing, I think Beers was trying to get everyone to stay, and TVO was telling everyone to find greener pastures.

None of this is either/or.....she can be what you said, and also a driving force of the destruction of the program as we knew it. She made it clear that Beaver Nation should be nothing but happy for the players leaving.....that's called being tone deaf to the situation.

None of this is either/or.....she can be what you said, and also a driving force of the destruction of the program as we knew it. She made it clear that Beaver Nation should be nothing but happy for the players leaving.....that's called being tone deaf to the situation. Well, I don't know that I'd go that far. TVO put in her years her and got a degree. She already went through one blow up of the team. No one really knows why she went to USC, though I know everyone likes to think it was all about the boyfriend. Again, I don't know TVO personally, but given her public persona, I find that a little hard to believe. Regardless, she showed more investment than most in the team and OSU. And really, unless a majority of the players said it was Scott's system, does it matter? One way or another they are gone. I think TVO, and maybe I'm just giving her the benefit of the doubt, wasn't saying be happy for the players leaving as much as hey they brought you a really great season and while it's sad that they are leaving we should be thanking them for the season they gave us and wish them well. I do think there is a lot of frustration being vented towards the players but I think most are just frustrated because they don't know the reasons and probably never will. On the one hand, it's sad to lose someone that helps build the community spirit (whether intentionally or not). On the other hand, rgeorge may actually be right - if this is all about business from here on out, it's just like any other employee leaving. Just need to get used to it and either accept the entertainment for the time/place or decide it's not worth investing $$$ or time. This is why I maintain, ad nauseum, that somehow, at some point in time, a group of colleges/people/what have you need to determine how to extract as much "it's about business" from the whole system and return it to being enjoyment of watching competitive sport. Just because a team may not play for a title made by the media to determine "the best" doesn't really mean anything.
