Apparently, Paige Buckners is following Beers on X. A couple of people on the other site said maybe this means Buckners is transferring to OSU. lol

Personally I will cheer/support them whether they are here or playing for another school, just like I do for Brown, Jones, Greta etc.
But after listening to all of the former players who are now commentators talking about how they hoped and dreamed about getting a championship and then the satisfaction of achieving one for those who did. And these women are just walking away from a real chance at achieving that dream next season.
I just find it baffling and it's hard not to believe that in the future they will bang their head against a wall and think to themselves "what was I THINKING?"

They obviously see things differently then you or many fans. Who knows if they will regret their decision to leave, or maybe if they had decided to stay, they will later regret not having transferred. I am sure they have put a lot of thought into their decisions and are obviously doing what they think is in their best interest. It seems to be part of the human condition for people to think; "why can't others just see the world and life the way I do"

I’m with you 2ndGen. I am deeply disappointed in the situation OSU is in. But I truly don’t understand the hatred and the vitriol being thrown at college students. I wish they had come back to make a deep run next year but they didn’t. Is that reason for supposed adults to act like they are? They’re dead to me, they’re all fake, not a true family, and whatever other bs people are spouting. They were close, and will still be friends after they’re done. All the other players that have left still follow each other and are constantly encouraging each other, or wishing each other happy birthdays, or whatever. A bunch of fans who know nothing about what’s happening in the locker room tearing down the players and coaches because they feel betrayed. Raegan was my daughter’s summer league coach last year and I have talked to her numerous times. She is one of the most genuine, truly nice person I have ever met. She is not fake or a liar or traitor or anything other than a great person. Same with Talia, or Adlee or Donovan or any other player that everyone here were rooting for a month ago. I’m would never tell anyone how to feel, but I am amazed at the level of which some of you have taken those feelings. Yes some of them may find it’s not any better somewhere else, and maybe even wish they hadn’t left. But to actively root against them or to tear them down so badly, to me is absolutely ridiculous. But hey, I guess maybe that’s just me, again very disappointed, but appreciative of the year and how much fun it was. I will continue with my support next year, which hopefully will be with another group of players who are hungry enough to lead OSU back to the tournament. Thank you. Great post. If people feel that hurt and betrayed by what is happening perhaps, they should take it as a cue to broaden their perspective and take a step out of their emotional sports fan bubble. Disagree. What is being a fan of any team but an emotional event? It is not a real life course in Zen Buddhist philosophies, and we grasshoppers should not take a step outside our corporeal selves, study this, and learn from it. I bear no ill will toward those who are leaving, but I bear plenty of it toward the NCAA, its member institutions, and the conferences those institutions formed. At some point in an ongoing bad situation, most people will do their Popeye imitation and say, "That's all I can stands; I can't stands no more." That's where I am.

The NCAA went from suffocating restrictions to the present day free-for-all. The prior situation was bad, the current condition is worse.
Nice job.

Sorry I can not keep up with how quickly everything is happening!
Is Beers still on the team as of today? Is Coach Rueck still the coach?
Any other of the team members entered the portal since Blacklock?
Thanks for the information!

Beers to UConn rumor is out there FWIW. Well, UConn is kind of hard to argue against. I could even argue against South C. but not UConn. I have to agree I would even cheer for Beers if she went to UConn. Love that gal! Sure would like to see her play for us, though!

Survivor mode. I'll be at Gill next season. I will still enjoy women's basketball. I hope we have a team full of players who want to be here so I don't have to go through this annual betrayal month again. We didn't even get the chance to enjoy our "Elite 8" accomplishment before the players flipped our joy off.

I won't cheer for anybody who leaves. The ones for whom I won't have any hard feelings are the ones that leave for playing time or their preferred field of study OSU does not have. For example, after two years, someone decides they want to be a reptilian biologist and someotherstate U has that degree program. There are exceptions. I understood players quitting or transferring from coaches like Gary GAG and LaVonda W.

So, ag, this brings up a good point, does Rueck have anything to do with what's going on? Before I go any further, I am a HUGE SR fan so please understand I'm not trying to start any rumors. It's just that history might suggest something here. What I'm speaking to is the pattern of starters transferring out, starting with Destiny, then Jones and Brown, and now our whole starting 5 (seems like!). I understand this year has some additional components to it that invite them to transfer out (WCC) but like we've all talked about a million times already, this team would of walked through the WCC schedule and would of likely been AT LEAST a 2 seed, if not a 1. Even the next year, same scenario. Is there something about SR that is turning players away after they get a 2 year dose of him? This is my question.

Martha Pietsch is in the transfer portal. Like Adlee's decision, not a big surprise.

Totally get Martha and Adlee's decision to enter the portal. Playing time. They will be missed.
