Did anybody really think the pac2/12 was really going to get anywhere near an equal amount? The rich will get richer.

Am I reading this correct, even if we rebuild the PAC into something respectable, by then, it will already be too late? TV revenues will be promised/ distributed to the two big conferences, and the rest are left with the scraps? What am I missing? So much for renegotiating after our two year rebuild process

Well, that’s just swell.
I didn’t expect we would get much from this (mealy mouthed lies from the CFP were the “best” of it), but also am not surprised to find we will get even less.
So much for the tradition, pageantry, and excitement of old time college football. We will just have to take what we have and make it work.
Go Beavs!

Since we don't have a league we are kind of screwed. We had two years to form one but nobody said the rest had to wait for us. If I heard it correctly on kgw the new deal would give us like 360k and oregon for example 21.5 million.

This doesn't go into effect until 2026. It really just makes it all the more important for the Pac-2 to get into whatever power conference possible. Right now that really means either the Big 12 or ACC. ACC has to be able to stay together moving forward, so...

I actually thought that the PAC's argument was reasonable - they didn't get kicked out as individual entities, others left them, therefore their status should not change. But yet again college football disappoints.
This was also the one moment in time where the ACC/BIG-12 could have flexed their last bit of muscle and said "Oh you want those rules? Nah, we're good without you." and formed their own league with many more participants and done an equal revenue share or, if miracles do happen, even return the sport to be less of a money grab.
I predict for the next three years that TV viewership will actually rise pretty high. The novelty of new teams in the conference will raise interest, the new playoff format will spark interest, etc. But then after that when mediocre B1G teams wallow in the shallow mud reeking of the dried stench of past victories and having sold every last bit of their soul to get another nickel, their viewership will drop. And then when the ACC (if it's still there) and the Big12 discover they really can't crack the playoff barriers (because by that time athletes will be paid and the other 2 will have massive dollars to buy them), they will be disillusioned and start to drop off. But by then it will probably be too late to recover anything of the body of college football and they'll just have to bury parts of it like the forlorn dog burying never-to-be-found bones in the backyard.
I would say this regardless of whether OSU and WSU made it into the Big-12 or other big destination. And I sincerely hope that in about five years, even if it's in a "junior" league, we can just appreciate the week to week effort of a team that plays for the fun of playing and isn't endlessly chasing the sunset.

The G5 teams need to get together and pledge to accept nothing less than a $2 million per game guarantee from a P4 opponent. If the P4 teams want body bag games, make them pay dearly for it. I look for P4 teams playing at G5 schools (like Purdue this year at Reser) to become a thing of the past. I doubt we will ever see Ol' Miss at Reser, as is scheduled.
The G5 leagues also need to increase the number of their conference games. No reason for the MAC or MWC(for instance) to play only eight league games. They are 12-team conferences. Play 10 league games.
The more times the P4 teams have to play each other, instead of a G5 OOC opponent, the more losses they will have. We'll see how well this playoff works when teams with three and four losses, which are much harder to market, are making the field. It's easy to hype a 12-0 Michigan vs. a 12-0 Georgia. Make them play 10 or 11 games against P4 teams and suddenly quite often they're 10-2.
The SEC and Big Ten are ruining college football. I expect they'll take on the NCAA basketball tournament next.

I do. Oregon State is Rocky Balboa in Rocky IV. Bring on Captain Ivan Drago. We'll go to Moscow and train in the snow while being shadowed by apparatchiks. Sure whatever. We'll wear the American flag trunks and bloody those hammer & sickle dopes down South. Anytime. Anywhere. Any place. Fear fear, if you would like. FDR be damned. I'm not scared!

Swell. We can carry a log on our shoulders through the snow. Then go out and get our asses kicked once the talent disparity is fully established. In the end, talent wins more than not. Log or no log, snow or no snow.
