Oregon State is 15-1 with an RPI of 6.
Utah is 11-4 with an RPI of 25.
Currently, Oregon State and Utah have the two best RPIs in the Pac-12. Cal is third with an RPI of 46. These three games likely decide which Pac-12 team will lead the Pac-12 in RPI at the beginning of next week.
Of all of the teams on Oregon State's schedule, Utah has the second-best RPI at 25. Only Arkansas has a better RPI with the best current RPI.
Utah started off the 2022 baseball season 11-3-1 before losing to BYU on the Ides of March and then losing three straight in Eugene.
Utah has not started off with a 15-game record of 11-4 and a road series win to start conference play in more than 25 years. That includes all 12 years that the Utes were a member of the Mountain West and all 13 years that the Utes were a member of the Pac-12. I even looked back to Utah's final year as a member of the WAC for good measure.
Arguably, this is the best Utah baseball team to this point in the season in more than a quarter of a century.

Totally off topic, but Salt Lake City will be 52F at game time while Corvallis is 69degrees and toasty. Lol. Oregon State players will thaw out eventually.

Alot of interesting games. My eye is on UW-Texas though. I hate UW but it would be nice to end the RPI death spiral of the PAC

Most important games for Oregon State's current RPI in order: 1. Cal State Northridge @ Cal Poly 2. North Dakota State @ Omaha. Currently 4-1 North Dakota State in the seventh.
3. Minnesota @ Elon. Currently 1-1 in the bottom of the ninth.
4. Missouri @ Arkansas
San Diego beat Michigan 8-6 to drop Oregon State's RPI perilously close to Florida State's RPI.
The first two games above each account for more than half of the points of Oregon State's game with Utah, which is ridiculous.
The Minnesota game counts for more than a third of the points of Oregon State's game with Utah.
The Arkansas game counts for more than an eighth of the points of Oregon State's game with Utah. |

I wanted to add that this is the first year that Oregon State did not open Pac-12 play against Wazzu, since 2019, when Oregon State opened against UCLA. Oregon State last opened against Utah in 2014. That was also on the road. The Beavs entered with 15 wins and swept: 6-1, 5-1, and 8-0.
