I find it crazy that we are the only team west of Texas ranked in the top 20 teams in the country. Says a lot about the state of college sports right now.

uC Irvine being so low is pretty silly. 13-1, and #8 in RPI. I get their wins aren't crazy but it's not bad either.

I find it crazy that we are the only team west of Texas ranked in the top 20 teams in the country. Says a lot about the state of college sports right now. Irvine is the only other team playing like a top 35 team at this point. Them not being in the top 20 is a huge slap in the face. Santa Barbara beat Oregon in Santa Barbara, but I think that their inclusion in the top 25 is a stretch. College sports follows population, and the population is almost exclusively Back East. 80% of your recruits are East of the line. Screws the West over in all sports, but it is particularly pronounced in baseball and basketball. Add to that that Oregon produces the second-lowest amount of high school students nationwide per capita (not enough working families sticking it out/having kids). Absent a huge influx of immigration to Oregon to augment the lack of 18 and younger crowd, Oregon State is just so screwed in so many different ways, and it seems like it will continue to get worse with each passing year for the foreseeable future. Hopefully, Oregon State's conference changes help things, because it seemed like it was pretty bleak before..........

D1 baseball has 4 SEC in the top 5 and 6 in the top 10. Hard to argue with the 4 in the top 5 so far but good lord do Florida and Vandy really need to be in the top 10?

Florida and Vandy have not done enough to warrant a Top Ten nod at this point. LSU has not really played anybody, save one game against Texas. The "rankings" are largely stupid guesses at this point.

Irvine, FSU and Georgia seem particularly bad. LSU is just at the top cause they are LSU and haven't done enough to tumble. If Arky and LSU win their series it will probably be #1 vs #2 in two weeks. With the SEC carnage starting up and the P12 looking soft we may end up with the terrible #1 if we keep taking care of biz.
